Personal Data - Citizen:
Attached to: Civilian
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Japan

The legendary singer, who is called "The Galactic Songstress." Originally, she was well-known to the general populace in the civilian quarters of the Macross only as the poster girl for the Chinese Restaurant Nyan-Nyan. But after winning the ship-wide "Miss Macross Contest" and beginning her singing career, she became an oasis in the hearts of the citizens of the Macross, who had to show such strength in their long time on board the ship. Furthermore, when her voice reached the ears of the Zentraadi soldiers, they had such an intense reaction that it has become commonplace to say that the Bodoru Main Fleet was destroyed by the power of her songs.
In her world tour after the end of the First Interstellar War, she gave courage to the many people still suffering during the reconstruction. Still, during this time, it is said that she privately considered retiring from singing because of romantic problems with Hikaru Ichijo, her close friend in the military.

Caption: Although she was just another refugee on the Macross at first, when she won the Miss Macross Contest (an event celebrating the opening of the civilian broadcast network on the ship), she achieved her dream of debuting as a pro.

Caption: Minmei's singing had a tremendous effect on the Zentraadi soldiers, and the shipboard idol broke through all boundaries. During the final battle with the Bodoru Main Fleet, humanity was victorious literally because of her singing.

Character Episode 01: Meeting Hikaru
Before the Macross Launch Ceremony, Minmei came to South Ataria Island to vacation with her aunt and uncle, who owned a Chinese Restaurant there. But, when Buritai's Fleet arrived, she was swept away to a new threat. She was doing nothing when a Unified Forces VF-1D suddenly fell and half-demolished her family's shop. The pilot, who had boarded the military plane was (at that time) a civilian: Hikaru Ichijo. The two exchanged their first words together, and Minmei got the impression that Hikaru was "a nice guy." Later, once she reached refugee shelter, she realized that she had left behind a notice that she had qualified for an audition. She went to get it, but encountered a Zentraadi Rigaado. But Hikaru's VF-1D and Roy Fokker's VF-1S* dashed in and rescued her without her coming to any harm. Yet, during mid-air combat, the left arm of the VF-1D (which was protecting her) broke off. Minmei valiantly swam through the air, and was pulled safely into the fighter by a hair's breadth. But even here, she didn't know what lay in store.

* Translator's note: in the original, it was flagged as an error and originally was misprinted as "Roy Fokker's VF-1J".

Caption: Swimming in mid-air during a battle like some kind of circus performer, Minmei lost one of her nine lives that day. Immediately after, she fell into a state of panic, not over her safety, but over her dishevelled hair.

Character Episode 02: Escape From The Macross
As soon as they were safely inside the Macross, Minmei and Hikaru leave the ship in Hikaru's fan racer. Hikaru wants to leave not only for his own sake, but because he had originally told Minmei that he would get her back safely to her uncle's shop.

Caption: As the Macross folded immediately after they exited outside of the ship, the Fan Racer was thrown out into space. Minmei was aloof to Hikaru, who was impatient, and was entranced by the beauty of the stars.

Translator's note: originally was: "As the Macross folded when they escaped, the Fan Racer was thrown out into space."

Character Episode 03: Survival Of Just The Pair
Somehow, the duo gets back inside the ship, but they found themselves shut inside an uninhabited, closed-off section. While looking for an escape route, they create a makeshift shower, and although she's worried that Hikaru might be watching, Minmei shows that she's gradually beginning to trust him.

Caption: Minmei in the shower that Hikaru hastily made. Immediately before this scene, she deliberately shrieked in order to tease him, a practical joke which shows the side of her that really likes him.

Right: The outfit she wore on the day of the Macross Launch Ceremony. The short-sleeved, one-piece dress with the long-sleeved turtleneck blouse gives it a layered style.

Left: Clothes from the survival time in the closed-off section of the Macross. It's a work-shirt that Hikaru had left in the fan racer.

Left: The pyjamas that Minmei was wearing on the night of her birthday. It's just cream-coloured cloth, but the heart marks (and the arrow going through them) on the pockets give it a love-filled feeling.

Right: A cute one-piece with a somewhat large collar. The dress that Minmei wore in the Miss Macross Contest, she bought it with Hikaru in a boutique on board the Macross.

Up: The appearance of the Unified Forces helmet that Minmei wore on her head when she boarded Hikaru's Fan Racer in order to escape the Macross. It's a little bit big for her.

Up: Minmei during the survival period. She's in the shower that Hikaru made. The curls of her characteristic curled hair remain even after the shower.

Left: This is also from the survival time in the closed-off section of the Macross. For the make-believe wedding with Hikaru, she made a veil out of his handkerchief.
