Commentary
The first episode vividly showed the curtain raising on what is called a "robot anime where the hero single-mindedly sings in the battlefield". Continuing in this episode, Basara's stance toward "singing" is described through the conversation with Mylene. The screenplay by Tomita Sukehiro is affected by connections to the first "Macross" production (TV and theatrical edition), just like the preceding episode in the series. The literary position of this episode has content that had the effect of bolstering Tomita's reputation - as Tomita was in charge of the "girl story". Especially in the scene where Mylene senses the existence of Basara's former girlfriend while rummaging in the fridge in his house, which directly transmit to the viewer the subtle fuzzy feeling of Mylene's heart. Also, while important characters such as City Mayor Miria and Dr. Chiba make an appearance, foreshadowing is prominent in such things as Mylene's formal marriage interview and Max making contact with Fire Bomber's Ray. Basara's line, "Listen to my song!!" also first appears in this episode.
In addition, Miria, along with Max and Exsedor who appeared in the first episode, are characters from the founding "Macross" that continue to play a part in Macross. In contrast to the other two, who as warship captain and staff officer, are in positions that extend in a straight line from the previous series, Miria has had a bold turnover from an "inexperienced woman warrior that doesn't know anything but combat" to "straight-laced woman mayor". Notwithstanding the 30 or more years that have passed since the previous series, the fans were still surprised by her young appearance.

Topics: The characters from the first series that continue to pitch
Max, Exsedor and now Miria, who first appears in this episode, are characters that appeared in "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" and "Do You Remember Love?". The appearance in "7" of these characters who have strong personalities and firmly-rooted popularity, at the same time as pleasing the older fans, became an opportunity for young fans to become interested in the older Macross productions.

Topics: The Fire Valkyrie Boarding Process
In the second episode, the flow of actions that Basara takes when boarding a Valkyrie is carefully depicted. Going along a rope, he jumps from his door to the Valkyrie, and despite boarding the Valkyrie by a hatch that opens behind the head, the method he uses to open and shut the hatch should be noticed. In order to open the hatch, a panel on the side of the hatch must be opened and a secret code entered. Although the Fire Valkyrie was left outside, it seems to have been furnished with a minimum level of security.
