Commentary
An episode with a horror tone that depicts the menace from several covert operatives (vampires) that Geperunicchi had sneak into City 7 and attempt to collect spiritia. An escape drama plays a central role in the story where Mylene, who doesn't easily want to receive other people's assistance, has to make a slight compromise with Basara, who came to assist Mylene from a "dangerous hungry ghost that's walking by itself".
In the battle in the later half of the episode, Gamlin, who grew more and more angry with Basara's audacity, finally requested permission to attack Basara from his squadron leader. On the other hand, important points are also inserted into the scene where the Unified Forces carry out an investigation of the Vampires and an analysis of the enemy's fighter craft. It depicts a change from the military side on how they deal with such unknown phenomenon as Basara and the enemy forces.
In addition, 3 days after this episode was telecast, on Nov. 2, 1994, Macross 7's opening tune "Seventh Moon" and ending tune "My Friends" were released as a CD single. At this point in time, the names of the artists who actually did the singing, Fukuyama Yoshiki and Chie Kajiura, were covered over, and each song was released as "Fire Bomber featuring Basara Nekki" and "Fire Bomber Featuring Mylene Jenius".

Topics: Basara et al's Apartment
Basara and Ray live in a partially destroyed apartment within the lawless immigrant district "Akusho", that's connected to the Macross 7. At the start of this episode, the 4 members of Fire Bomber assemble in the apartment at the band's "practise place".
Caption: The television and the table that are in the room appear to be things that they've found.
Topics: Bouquet Girl
From the first to the fourth episode, the figure of the girl in a white dress appears without fail, at the venues for Fire Bomber's live performances. Even though she always tries to hand over the bouquet she holds to Basara, as Basara runs away (episode 1 and others), or other fans push her aside (this episode), the episodes end without her being able to hand it over. As a matter of fact, this "bouquet girl" appears in every episode of "Macross 7", and she tries to pass the bouquet to Basara each time. The fans at the time watched each episode attentively with thoughts encircling their minds about when the girl could give her flowers to Basara and what does the girl still have to do with the main thread of the story?

Mylene: "This is different!"
Basara: "Next time, "Spirit Girl". There's gutsy singing, man!!"
