Commentary
Although Rex is the leader of the the biker group "Team Rex", which reappears several times later on in the series, she gets Basara to protect herself from the enemy. Furthermore, her appearance from feeling the seriousness of Basara's song until they kiss is depicted without pause. On the other hand, despite receiving a shock when Basara is kissed, Mylene volunteers to fly the Fire Valkyrie instead of him, and approaches Basara in a form that differs from that of Rex. In addition, it's established that Mylene's partner Gubaba perceives the state of Mylene's mind, and reveals her true feelings as his own facial expressions. When Gubaba continuing to glare at Basara after seeing Basara's kiss even though Mylene is calm, is in a word, assuredly that connection.
Also, in the start of the episode, Mylene couldn't understand Basara when he said "I sing when I want to sing". The last scene where she says to Basara, "you sing whenever you want to, right?" and the scene where she sings while piloting, are episodes that shows Mylene gradually understanding Basara's feelings.

Topics: The Milky Road
The Milky Road is a space highway that connects the Macross 7 Fleet's large companion ships. If it's a type of vehicle that supports the Milky Road, then it's possible to travel the road with a sensation that's unchanged from that of an ordinary road (to the extent shown in the anime, gravity seems to pull downward in the vicinity of the highway). In addition, rocket engines are also packed into the ordinary vehicles that are used in the fleet. In emergencies, those vehicles can also carry out short range space flights.

Topics: The First Appearance of the "Speaker Units"
Usually Basara shoots speaker pods into the aircraft of his opponents because he sings in space, where sound is not transmitted. However, in this episode the "Acoustic Speaker Units" built into both of the Valkyrie's shoulders are used for the first time, because the battlefield was the urban areas of the Three Star, which have an atmosphere (= transmits sound). One can say that the staff are fixated with the continuation from the founding "Macross" of the detailed mechanical depictions that properly use such things as the speaker units.
