Commentary
This is the episode that delves into the relationship of Mylene and Gamlin, who had their first meeting in the preceding episode, and Basara added to it. The strange love triangle is established here, with the presentation of the dangerous relationship of Mylene, who plays the part of "Mayor Miria's daughter" and conceals her activities in Fire Bomber, and Gamlin, who is suspicious of her interaction with the nuisance Basara on the one hand, and on the other, the appearance of Basara, who is depicted as putting his own life at risk in an emergency to protect Mylene, despite behaving at his own pace. Also, the highlight of this episode is Mylene's sweetness, who's age-appropriate behaviour is shown in such important parts as "though Mylene is graceful in front of Gamlin, she gives him peeks of her real face in the extreme words she uses when they talk about Basara", and "although Mylene takes offence at self-centred Basara, she is enjoying the resort with a smile after a few minutes". In the latter half of the episode, the imprisonment of Basara and Mylene in a closed compartment is an extreme situation reminiscent of the 4th episode of the TV version of "Macross". It's a scene where one can perceive the mental connection between Basara, who tries to defeat a life crisis by "singing songs", and Mylene, who believes in him and continues to sing.

Topics: The Resort Ship Riviera
The Resort Ship Riviera, which is the setting for this episode, has a unique style of a spiral dome and several spines extending from it's outer circumference (in the setting they are blocks that carry out heat radiation and environmental adjustments). The spiral shell of the guildfordia yoka* is used as the source of the shape's image. Also, the ship's name, Riviera, is famous as a resort area, and originates in the seacoast place name Riviera (the Coast of Liguria) on the Earth.

Topics: The carrier Uraga's Operator Pair
This episode's guests characters are the operators Livi and Ella* (Livi is on the left in the picture). Although they are guests limited to 1 episode, questions on why a dedicated eye-catch was prepared for them remain strongly impressed in the viewer. Also, in addition to the the female operators' three sizes, detailed data was also published in the anime mooks** at the time.

Translator's notes: * The names are a pun, as L to R are one and the same in Japanese: Rivi + Era = Riviera.

** Mook: Wasei-Eigo: a thick, illustrated publication on a single topic printed to look like a magazine.

Basara: "Next time, "Virgin Bomber". Extreme fire!!"
