Commentary
Even though Physica was thinking of his wife and child - who were at a long distance - , that sentiment and his life itself fell in vain on the battlefield. The last scene, where the music box that Physica had prepared as a birthday present for his son, became wreckage and played "Planet Dance" while drifting in space, strongly raised the tragic feeling of the transience of life on the battlefield.
Also, this is the episode where the Battle 7 transforms for the first time, and the appearance where it undertakes its first operation and the crew within the ship is confused, recalls "Transformation", the 5th episode of "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross". The situation of defeating the enemy ship and getting out of difficulty by firing the main gun (Macross Cannon) after transforming was a direction that appeared to make the fans from the older production spontaneously grin.

Topics: The Transformation Of Battle 7
The Macross Cannon ought be called the Battle 7's trump card. To use it, the Battle 7 must transform to Humanoid Form, in order to directly connect the energy of the main reactor to the main gun. In addition, even though in "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" the ship transformed along with the residential areas in emergencies, and the districts suffered damage, the Battle 7 wasn't damaged as it was designed from the beginning taking the transformation into consideration.

Topics: Gigiru's Small Beam Gun
As its a beam weapon that shot down Physica in a single shot, its considered to be an attack that in the Varohta Forces, only Gigiru is equipped with. As a result of it being a small beam gun that demonstrates great power even at medium and long ranges, its thought that Gigiru sniped Physica's VF-17D from a distance outside of a gunpod's range.
