Commentary
Rex, who had been possessed by Sybil, unconsciously approached Basara. Is the desire for Basara that Rex reveals in this episode really Sybil's, who possessed Rex, or is it desires that Rex herself suppresses, released by Sybil...? By daring to be vague and only hinting at it, they have left room for the viewer's imagination. Also, what is implied in Basara's appearance when many approach him and he doesn't move at all: does he actually excel at treating women, or is he merely only interested in songs? At any rate, one can feel his unique character in his appearance.
On the other hand, one also perceives the start of the laying out of a lot of foreshadowing related to later developments, such as the existence of the newly organized Emerald Force, which is revealed in Max's speech, and Geperunicchi, who decides to aim at a different Macross Fleet while still not showing his real intentions. Also, it is possible to surmise Dr. Chiba's research landing certain results from Docker's recovery, and that is predictably tied together with the later formation of Sound Force.
