Commentary
It is an unusual episode even in the Macross 7 series, where Basara, who is worrying about the meaning of singing, doesn't emit a single word or his singing voice (it's even removed from the songs that flow in the background). Of course, for this reason, the unexpected development of the Protodevilun Gigiru singing a song gives a contrastively strong impression. The song that Gigiru sang, "My Soul For You", is a song that spells out ones devotion toward a lover, and in addition to strongly conveying Gigiru's feelings toward Sybil, it seems to be possible to say that it is the foremost great scene in the series when coupled with the directing that reflects on Sybil when he begins to sing.
Also, one of the points of the story is Gamlin leaving the armed forces, as he takes responsibility for hitting Burton in the previous episode. Hereafter, he comes to cooperate with Basara and Mylene from the standpoint of a civilian, until he returns once more to the armed forces in the 40th episode. With Miria giving him the VF-17S in exchange for severance pay, even though he leaves the armed forces, he is still able to continue riding his beloved aircraft.

Topics: The Directing That Used The Weather System
When Mylene rushes out of the live performance venue in her Valkyrie in order to search for Basara, the City 7 Weather System also changed to a sunset. Its exactly when the phrase "the evening sun that sinks on the screen" turns up in the middle of "Remember 16", which Mylene is singing. Incidentally, this phrase is the No.2 lyric, and the song starts being sung from the No.2 lyric in the episode.

Topics: The Nishimura Tomohiro Who Sang Gigiru's Song
Despite being a Protodevilun, Gigiru is shown enthusiastically singing "My Soul For You". That appearance not only gave a shock to Gabiru and Barugo in the episode, but also gave one to the audience. As the voice actor in the Gigiru role, Nishimura Tomohiro, is also a singer-songwriter, he has plenty of singing experience. However, on the topic of his natural voice, when the episode called for the song in his rather thick voice, it seems that it was unexpected be even he himself.

Topics: The Relationship That Is Constant Between The Two Of Them
Mylene rushes out pursuing Basara, who started on a wandering journey seeking a new song. That sort of composition of the two was also depicted in "Macross Dynamite 7", and even though about two years time has passed in the series, the relationship of Basara and Mylene appears to be the same. In addition, there is the point that the words of Rei, who supports Mylene, is also shared in the two productions.

Mylene: "Next time, "The Night Of Only The Couple".
Basara: "The heart burns with a hot beat!"
