Commentary
Gamlin, who separated from the armed forces and continues to worry about the meaning of combat, derives an answer. As a result, he returns as a civilian in military employ, the same as before. However, in comparison to before, when he was driven by and fought out of a sense of duty to the orders of the military and to protect the civilians, he was greatly different in the point that he has a clear intention to convey the songs of Basara -who had begun to be mutually understand by the enemy- to even more people. Along with the strong bonds and reliance connected to his interchanges with Basara, its possible to surmise and understand Gamlin's great growth as a human being.
Also, we would like you to note the dynamic singing of Basara, who doesn't feel like the slump that he was in recently at all. The sequential scene where the very long Sound Beam pierces the giant asteroid and he rescues Gamlin from his predicament in particular is a stirring directing that dispels any resentments Basara had up until now about Gamlin.

Topics: Reaction Weapons
From the First Interstellar War, there are armaments that the Unified Forces voluntarily limited its use of as they were too powerful. When they were used in the First Interstellar War, they brought about a hesitation in the Bodoru Main Fleet's invasion. Also, even though the Reaction Weapons were used in important situations in each series, such as to annihilate the "Bird Man" in the final phase of Operation Iconoclasm in "Macross Zero", and in the engagements with the Vajra in "Macross F", they achieved only a few of the hypothesized results.

Topics: The Galactic Treaty
The Earth and all of the Emigrant Fleets joined in the treaty that was concluded after the First Interstellar War. There are provisions concerning the military, such as seeking the permission of the command headquarters when Reaction Weapons are used. Also, from dialogue during "Macross F", it is possible to infer that the treaty includes provisions that prohibit the invasion of planets where intelligent life is known to exist.
