Commentary
An episode that takes the human drama as its principle axis, which is related to the anguish and parting by the people of the Macross 7 Fleet - who received a desperate mission of total destruction. With such things as discontinuing the opening outline and recollection, and combat scenes, and assigning almost every scene to the drama part with new animation clips, the episode becomes a composition that transmits the enthusiasm of the production camp. There are a lot of scenes that depict the parting of men and women in particular, where the patterns of their human relationships are each perceived in detail, such as Max and Miria, who regain their bonds as husband and wife before the crisis; Gamlin, who assumes that it is their final farewell and gives a ring to Mylene; Rex, who keeps her feeling for Basara to herself and sees him off; and Rei, who soothes Akiko over her fear of once more losing an important person. Also, the directing consistently has the theme of men and women separating, such as the contrast between the all women crew from the bridge seeing off the men (except for Viheeda) who embark on the Stealth Frigate.

Topics: The Macross 7 Fleet, Which Was Made Into A Stone That Was Cast Aside
During "Macross FB7", when about 10 or more years have passed from carrying out the Operation Stargazer operation, from Luca's lines one can infer the traces of the armed forces externally concealing the information of the operation. It seems to have absolutely been inconvenient information, as far as the Earth Unified Forces Headquarters was concerned, and it enhanced the credibility of Max's prediction when he said that the Macross 7 Fleet is a stone that's being cast aside.

Topics: The Wing Mark That Was Entrusted [To Mylene]
The wing mark is a decoration that's conferred to new pilots in proof of finishing their drilling as a pilot, and as far as Miria is concerned, it existed like an amulet, when she headed toward the battlefield. In a similar way, Mylene entrusted a personal memento to Gamlin in the 24th episode, and one can perceive that the mother and daughter of the Jiinasu family have a romantic aspect to them.

Basara: "It's fire in the extreme!"
