Commentary
Basara and others somehow survived even though their operation ended in failure, and they were captured by the Varohta Forces as prisoners of war. The first half of the story consists of developments that overflow with tragic and hopeless feelings, such as the threat of the bottomless Geperunicchi; Mylene, who weeps bitterly over Gamlin's loss; and Basara, who has not only his body's freedom snatched away, but also his voice.
It's Max who still hasn't broken down in such a situation. He rouses Mylene with warm and harsh words, and the flow of the sequence where it shifts as-is to the offensive, wipes out the feelings of despair up until then in one go. In addition, due to Gamlin returning alive, the episode comes to create still more catharsis.
Also, aside from the singing voices of Basara and others, they don't have an effective countermeasure against the Protodevilun. During this episode, Gamlin repulses Gabiru with the Spiritia Absorption Device on the enemy aircraft that he stole. The gimmick where the device that's used by the brainwashed soldiers and was developed in order to efficiently collect Spiritia becoming a double-edged sword that conversely threatens the life of the Protodevilun, is interesting.

Topics: The Pilot Suit That Saves Lives
Gamlin lost consciousness with a wounded body in a blizzard. His having survived in such a situation is surmised to have been due to the great airtightness of the pilot suit that functions as cold weather protection gear. In addition, his life was also saved by the pilot suit, when he encountered Sybil, his aircraft was destroyed, and he was exposed to outer space (the 17th episode).

Topics: Escaping From The Enemy's Sphere Of Influence
Even though Max had become a captive in the enemy's sphere of influence, he does not lose hope. At the time of the First Interstellar War, in order to save Ichijo Hikaru and others, who had been taken captive in the Bodoru Main Fleet -which one can say was the deepest part of the enemy's sphere of influence-, he carried out a disturbance all by himself, and consequently safely returned them all to the Earth sphere. It seems that he capitalized on that experience in this episode's predicament.
