Commentary
As the subtitle shows, the climax is before our very eyes, and it is a sensational episode where Basara dies. It is unprecedented in a Macross series for the protagonist to die during the story (* specifically a cardiac arrest), and one seems to be able to say that the character named Basara and the production named "Macross 7" themselves signified something that was outside the norm.
Also, in the Spiritia Farm rescue operation, which starts from the destruction of the asteroid, a dynamic battle production catches the eye of the viewers, with such things as Sound Force and Goramu & Zomudo, who exchange beam shots and vehemently struggle for supremacy; and Sybil and Geperunicchi, who clash with powers that exceed human understanding. The scene where Reaction Weapons, which can be called decisive weapons, are simultaneously fired from all ships in the style of the "Itano Circus" in particular is, in a word, a masterpiece. At the same time, it is connected to the result of explicitly stating the astounding power of Goramu and Zomudo, who act as if that attack is nothing.

Topics: The Invulnerable Man Nekki Basara
Even though Basara has his Spiritia stolen and falls into a near death state, he carries out a miraculous revival in the 49th episode. Even in "Macross Dynamite 7", which is equivalent to the sequel of this series, even though Basara is thrown out into outer space and is beyond recovery, he displays a threatening recovery that betrays the doctor's expectations. That good luck and toughness seems to make it possible to say that Basara is in the top class in the successive generations of protagonists.
