Commentary
An episode not broadcast on TV that was recorded as a special video on the final 13th volume of the TV series VHS and LD release. The nostalgic mecha and directing that are based on "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross", such as the old generation warships and Battle-suits, which are led by Kurore; Max and Miria, who reproduce the legendary kiss scene; and Mylene, who contends for the Minmei Attack as the new songstress; caught the eye of series fans. Also, the appearance of Basara on the other hand -who achieves a fight in a form that differs from Lynn Minmei-, is tied to the result of more strongly impressing the viewer with the production theme of "Macross 7" -deepening mutual understanding not by fighting, but with song-.
In addition, even though Sugawara Masashi, in the Rei role, and Inoue You, in the Geperunicchi role, have been in charge of the narration so far, Mika Doi -who performed the Hayase Misa role in such things as "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross"- serves as the guest narrator in this episode. The stylish cast, who closely resembled that of the old series production, also became a pleasant surprise for fans from the old series.

Topics: Character & Mechanical Design, And The Appearance Of The World
Including the scenes that have the same basic idea, the characters and mecha that originate in the First Interstellar War who appeared in this episode (Max's and Miria's costumes, Buritai's and Exsedor's appearances, the SDF-1, VF-1S, and so on) are originally designs from the "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?" movie. On the other hand, from Kurore's remarks, such as "turncoat Buritai" and "Miria Fariina" (not the theatrical edition name "Miria 639"), it's possible to infer that the story follows that of the TV series "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross".
Topics: The Meltrandi's Lost Fleet
Many of the military vessels that composed the fleet led by Kurore are ones that are isomorphs to the fleet that the Meltrandi Forces operated during the drama in the movie "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?". The flagship that Kurore commands is also an isomorph of the highly manoeuvrable ship that Miria used in that same production when she fought the Unified Forces. Here, too, one can grasp that the mecha designs are based on the theatrical version of them.

Topics: The Quadoran Series
The Quadoran-Roh that Korore and others board are mass production aircraft that have been operated from before the First Interstellar War. In addition, derivative aircraft exist in great numbers, such as the Quadoran-Kiruka that Mylene's older sister Emiria used (appearing in "Macross 7: The Galaxy Is Calling Me!"), and the Quadoran-Rhea that S.M.S.'s Pixy Squadron used (appearing in "Macross F").
