Commentary
As a theatrical anime production that was released immediately following the end of the TV series broadcast, "The Galaxy Is Calling Me!" was screened simultaneously with "Macross Plus Movie Edition", which unfolded in the same time period as a Macross series. With a running time of about 30 minutes, it is somewhat short as a movie production, and is a side episode that extends the main story of the TV series (as from the 38th episode). Naturally, there are many new elements, such as the appearance of Emiria -Mylene's older sister-, and Nattaa Barugo -who was mechanized and resurrected-, and "The Galaxy Is Calling Me!" took a form that extended the world of the "Macross 7" production even more. Also, the appearance of the unyielding, passionate Emiria -which gives the viewer the impression of her mother Miria-, is fascinatingly depicted to the extent that she deserves better than being limited to a one episode heroine.
Emiria who is shown singing enthusiastically, evenly balanced with Basara, and yet an artist different from the voice actor was in charge of the singing parts, like the Basara role. Okudoi Mika, who served as the singer for that, is a jazz singer, and aside from this production, she also sings the theme songs of several anime productions.

Topics: The Speaker Units That Deliver Song
Minmei's songs in "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" were sent to the enemy fleet using all of the [radio] frequencies for military use. In the Varohta Campaign in "Macross 7", speakers were included on the VF's themselves, like the Sound Force aircraft, and shooting type sound units similar to Gun Pods were also developed. After that, the speaker units mainly took the form of exchange units that are installed on the airframe.

Speaker Units
Equipped Aircraft: VF-19 Kai, VF-11MAXL Kai, VF-17T Kai
Caption: The aircraft itself was equipped with speaker units, so that Basara and the others could send songs to the enemy on the front line.

Topics: Gabigorago - The Three Spirit Combination
The three spirits of Gabiru, Gurabiru, and Nattaa-Barugo -who is a mechanized and resurrected Barugo- combine and become Gabigorago. Due to remodelling and tuning, Gabigorago is equipped with such things as a "shield", which flattens everything in the surroundings with high pressure; and a Counter Sound Booster System, that renders Basara's songs ineffective.
