Commentary
The climax episode in the sequence that's set on the planet Gaul 4. It is the episode that is heaped with shocking and strong visuals like the penetration of the nest inside of the Global, the awakening of the giant Vajra group, and the collapse of Gaul 4. At the same time, Grace's strategy is finally genuinely advanced. Also, the episode is an important one that spread over its length and breadth a foreshadowing that extends into the developments thereafter, such as Ranka's past memories and her curious resonance with the Vajra, in addition to the dubious pill that Sheryl uses regularly. Furthermore, although Ranka's strong feelings stood a level higher than Sheryl's in the love drama after the preceding episode's activities, her relationship with Aruto also naturally deepens in this episode. Even the scene where Ranka reminisces on her first meeting with Aruto has a direction that increases the radiance of the scene based on Ranka's subjectivity. On the other hand, we would like you to notice the stylishness of Sheryl, who extravagantly helps such a Ranka out of the crisis.

The appearance of the Macross Class battleship Global that Ranka saw, recalls a small quantity of memories of her former family, as she had spent her childhood in it. In the mind of Ranka came the faint figures of her older brother Brera and mother Ranshe Mei, who was a Vajra researcher. In addition, there was even a peek at the image of her father, whose name and outward appearance wasn't clearly seen until the end of this series. It is unknown if her father participated in the 117th Survey Fleet.

Grace guided the annihilation of Gaul 4 in this episode and finally revealed her true identity as the mastermind of this story. At the same time, this episode shows her strong abilities as a cyborg, who has been enhanced by implant technology. It showed it in such things as her superhuman leaping ability and activation of the Dimension Eater by making her body itself into the computer terminal key. Incidentally, even though Grace's current body is annihilated in this episode, her mental data (soul) is transplanted into a new body in the next episode. Although called a cyborg, it doesn't appear to be the type that is built into normal brain cells.
