Commentary
It's the episode that depicts the great decisive battle of the Vajra with the Frontier Fleet as the climax of the first half of "Macross F", which had passed through the battle at planet Gaul 4. Such things as the naive feelings of Luca, who yearns for Nanase, are weaved into such a general situation; on the other hand, Raramia's violent death also strongly hammers out the pathos of the struggle. This episode's essential point is the sharing of Ranka's point of view with the viewer - as she has achieved a rapport with the Vajra, and the prominent foreshadowing that in some ways, mankind's Vajra enemy could be manipulated victims in someone's strategy. Together with the appearance of Grace, who has obtained a new body and is making progress in her next plot, it is a very important episode that leads to subsequent developments in the series. It is also an episode complete with impressive mecha depictions, such as the activities of the VF-25F, which is equipped with the Armour Pack for the first time, and the gallant figure of the mass production VF-171 that fights with the Pinpoint Barrier Punch special move.

Topics: Canaria's Picture
It's the picture that's affixed to the cockpit of the VB-6 that Canaria boards. The boy pictured in it standing next to Canaria is her son Eddie. He appears in the 20th episode with his father (lower picture, left). While the father and son huddle together in the Island 1 shelter, they believe that Canaria is protecting them. Canaria's membership in S.M.S. is also to defend Eddie with her own power.
Topics: The Last Moments Of Raramia
Raramia, who participated actively as a member of Pixy Squadron from her first appearance in the 4th episode, is killed in action in this episode. She was an important subordinate of Kuran and her partner Nene's senior, and her abrupt death struck close to home in her S.M.S. comrades. From that death, Aruto in particular goes so far as to recall memories of Temujin and Gilliam, who were previously lost. His mind, which had experienced a welling up of feelings, changed to anger, and he fought to the last minute in this episode's anti-Vajra battle. Although Raramia's death in action was regretful, it's possible to say that it had a large influence on the flow of the conflict.
