Commentary
The true character of Ishtar is identified by Hibiki and Sylvie, and the true meaning of the mystery keyword from the 1st episode, "the Boat Of Arusu", is revealed to the viewer. In addition, the setting of the later half of the episode once more transitions to space, and the episode becomes a big turning point of this series. And, Wendy Rider, the important guest of this episode, exhibits a vivid presence as this series' songstress who ranks next to Ishtar. Her technique of singing the symbol of Earth's culture (= love songs) stimulates Ishtar, and hereafter she plays an important role in leading to the climax. That Wendy, and the depiction of the Marduk, who misunderstand the culture difference from the Singing Shrine Maidens who increase one's fighting spirit, can truly be said to be "Macross-like directing. One more topic is the first appearance of the new model VF Metal Siren: while it is still only a demo aircraft in this episode, it effectively fueled the interest of mecha fans.

Topics: The Popular Pilots Of The Unified Forces
While eating, a female fan requested Nex's and Sylvie's signatures. Although Nex responded pleasantly, as they excel in ability as VF pilots and the fans are favourable to Nex, Sylvie and Nex appear to exist as an aspiration, as far as ordinary people are concerned. The Unified Forces' festival on the Moon was also aware of their star status, and attempted to direct it. The reason why they hold the affection of the citizens might be because there hasn't been a space war for close to 10 years in this period, and the smell of gun smoke is thin.
Topics: Wendy Rider
As one of the lead actors in the Moon Festival, 16 year-old popular singer Wendy Rider also served as an advertising tower of the Unified Forces. In choreography that combined her vivacious youth with a virtuous sexy feeling on the Moon stage, she enthusiastically sang her repertoire: "The Lure Of The Valkyrie", and "Now, We're Friends". Ishtar recalls the memories of Wendy's singing as a symbol of Earth's peaceful culture even in the 4th episode. In addition, the Unified Forces Raiding Musical Combat Unit Jamming Birds sang "The Lure Of The Valkyrie" even in "Macross 7", in the 32nd episode and so on.
