Commentary
Hibiki the and others' escape from the enemy camp is drawn rich in tension, and in it, the distance between Hibiki and Sylvie also naturally narrows. On the other hand, this is the episode that tells about the disorder in various forms between Supreme Commander Ingusu and the Marduk Forces. Even more than the feared science facilities that brainwash a countless number of Zentraadi soldiers, the vigilance toward Earth's culture, which is symbolized by songs, and finally the cool-headedness of Ingusu, who promptly decides to eliminate the flagship of his own forces, is not at all inferior to Bodoruzaa in the "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross". The depiction of Ishtar's superior Erinshe, who cannot oppose Ingusu and dies, despite harbouring doubts over the state of affairs somewhere in her mind, makes the fear of the Marduk Forces stand out. Also, a noteworthy point of this production is the extremely high level drawings. A high level of completion is shown over the entire episode, such as in the character drama, and the combat between the mobile weapons.

In dealing with Hibiki, who was captured in this episode, Fefu considered brainwashing him, and sending him back to Earth as the vanguard of his own armed forces. However, he was more dangerous the previous time (the third episode), when he talked about exterminating the entire human race on Earth immediately after rescuing Ishtar (bottom). The softening from extermination to invasion due to interacting with the Earth, may be because he has reached the point where he has cooled from his fury with the safe recovery of Ishtar, who he longs for, and he is considering the current strategy by drawing back a step.

The Gigamesh, which even momentarily disobeyed his superiors and acted very violently against friendly troops within the Saaraido, displayed an overwhelming fierce attack against opponent Sylvie's Valkyrie II. Although it is true that Sylvie couldn't easily fight it because Ishtar was also riding the Gigamesh, the Valkyrie II's head and left arm were destroyed, and it was given great damage by such things as the Gigamesh's astounding manoeuvrability, claw attacks from various parts of the mecha, and the random pounding of small missiles. It's possible to say that the Gigamesh is the foremost rival mecha in all of the Macross series.
Topics: The Uniform Design Of The Unified Forces
The uniform of the Unified Forces is worn by Natassja and others, appears on the screen in the last part of this episode. With the uniform that is worn by the entire armed forces, irregardless of rank and age, and is worn by Admiral Excegran and so on when dressed formally in the drama (bottom), the character designer Mikimoto Haruhiko is said to have designed it with the image of the within ship uniform that the VF pilots wear. The skirt on the women's uniforms is a wrap-style skirt, and it seems to have traces of the thinking about functionality, such as easily changing to the pilot suit in an emergency.
