Commentary
The episode where the minds of Hikaru and Misa get closer again. Starting with Minmei and Kaifun's kiss scene in "Little White Dragon", the episode depicts the complex inter-relationship of Hikaru and Misa, who feel the distance with the person that they respectively have feelings for. Although the situation where they are locked up in a secret room is a refrain of the circumstances of Hikaru and Minmei in the fourth episode, while that was roughly Hikaru's first meeting with Minmei and they established a close friendship, this episode composes an even deeper understanding of each other for Hikaru and Misa, who have already been associating for a long time. The directing where the distance between the two gets closer as they sit side by side and their hearts approach each other, is impressive, even though it is casual. On the other hand, Minmei comes to gather feelings for Kaifun -who helped her out of a pinch-, that pile up on the former appearance of Hikaru. On the borders of this episode, Hikaru and Misa, and Minmei and Kaifun each come to understand their feelings with each other.

Topics: Was The Director Of "Little White Dragon" Director Ishiguro Noboru?
Although the director of "Little White Dragon" is the character who became "Shou* Blackstone" (right side of the picture), that name is the name of Ishiguro Noboru -the director of "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross"-, changed into English. As a matter of fact, director Ishiguro himself took charge of the director's voice in this episode. Incidentally, according to the materials at the time, even though Kent Flyer (he appeared as Minmei's singing teacher in the 10th episode) was considered to be in charge of the music for "Little White Dragon", his name is parodied with the name Haneda Kentaro, who was in charge of the music of this [in universe] production (Kentaro = Kent. The family name "Flyer" is associated with "wing"**).

Shammy (right) comes to issue extremely unreliable control instructions to each unit in this episode, because the other operators (Vanessa and Kim) haven't received air traffic control training. Incidentally, this series' producer Iwata Hiroshi left the comment "although it'd be somewhat dangerous, it'd be amusing to see her grow little by little [in this scene]," as Shammy was his favourite at the time.
Preview of the Next Episode
Buritai starts the last operation to seize the Macross by making the ship that he personally rides as a lure. At that very moment, Minmei's concert is being held within the Macross. The Battle Pods that succeed in their surprise attack, intrude into the concert.
