Commentary
The scientific data that the mankind and the Zentraadi are both belligerent races is presented, and the confrontations between the Zentraadi and Earthlings come to light in a way that substantiates that scientific data. The main point of this episode is the appearance of Hikaru -who pointed out that Earthlings are also a belligerent race- settling the revolt in a discussion after the conflict. On the other hand, the episode concurrently depicts Minmei's anguish, as she embraces doubts over the significance of singing songs, and indulges in memories with Hikaru. Minmei, who was on scene to see the Zentraadi soldiers -who where once deeply moved by her songs- confronting Hikaru, arrived at the selfish, yet positive conclusion that "I want to sing my songs again for myself", which causes troubles in the latter half of the story.

Topics: The "Macross" Event In Osaka
According to anime magazines at the time, on May 8, 1983, when this episode was broadcast, a "Macross" event that invited Mikimoto Haruhiko, Iijima Mari, and Hase Arihiro
as guests, was held in Osaka - the home territory of Mainchi Broadcasting, one of the key stations for "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross". In spite of it having an early starting time from 8:30 in the early morning, more than 1,300 people attended (80% of those were male fans). Even though Mikimoto Haruhiko prepared 700 sheets of signed colour paper the day before the event, it wasn't enough.
Topics: Warera And The Others After The First Interstellar War
Although Warera, Rory, and Konda, who defected to the Macross, became employees of a Macross City dry-cleaner after the great war, they were fired shortly thereafter. After that, they made a bare livelihood doing such things as being toy stallholders (pictured). In addition, according to the "Macross 7" drama CD "Macross 7 Docking Festival - Songs Will Save The Galaxy", although Rory married Vanessa and opened a general store after that, they closed the shop because Rory had become an alcoholic. At the time in 2045, when "Macross 7" is set, while Vanessa worked as a hostess, Rory seems to have raised children and done housework with freeloaders Warera and Konda.
