Commentary
The final episode is before our very eyes, and the relationship between Hikaru, Misa, and Minmei becomes complicated. In contrast, Kamjin is preparing the arrangements for a counteroffensive operation. The concept of "repair", that Kamjin and others learnt, is used not for reconstruction, but for opposition to the Earthlings, and the great damage it comes to bring about is indescribably ironic. On the other hand, in the scene where the victims regain their vitality by joining in chorus to sing the "Silent Night" hymn includes the theme of the Macross series: that songs are a good symbol of culture. Takayama Fumihiko, who is an acknowledge authority on the heartfelt emotional depiction of the characters in a story, was in charge of directing this episode. In the scene where Minmei drops pineapples while shopping is ominous news, as pineapples become the props that imagine death, in the same way as the 18th episode "Pineapple Salad", in which the same Takayama was also in charge of directing.

Topics: Onogi City Makes Progress In Its Revival
Onogi City, which was the setting of this episode, is a city that was rebuilt using materials and machine parts from the battleships of the Zentraadi that had fallen on the Earth. The revival appears to have advanced considerably, with various cultural facilities built, such as a shopping arcade, movie theatres, and a church in a large hospital, all in addition to the industrial section that produced Reaction Engine parts. In addition, the "Onogi City" name is connected to Onogi Hiroshi, a friend of Kawamori Shouji, Mikimoto Haruhiko and others from their high school days, who made his debut as the scriptwriter of "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross".

Topics: Each Misa In The TV Series And Movie
The situation where "Misa turns up when Minmei appears at Hikaru's side", which is depicted in this episode, is emulated even in the movie "Do You Remember Love?" (the point where Minmei turns up when Hikaru is making coffee is also shared). Even though slow-to-bloom in love Misa leaves the place so that Hikaru and others don't notice her in this episode, the depiction differs 180 degrees in "Do You Remember Love?", where conversely Misa draws closer to Hikaru, and heartbroken Minmei runs away from the spot.
