Commentary
The expectations of the upper echelons of the armed forces concerning the unmanned fighter aircraft, the suspension of the VF development project, the seditious actions of Marge, who is Sharon Apples's developer, and Myung's feelings toward Isamu and Guld, which she keeps secret... The problems associated with Project Super Nova, Sharon Apple, and even more so, the interpersonal relationship of Isamu and the other two come to a head, and the story faces its climax, and turns up the heat. The Earth, which becomes the setting of the final phase, strongly leaves the look of the First Interstellar War in "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" on the viewer, and former fans will have a nostalgic spectacle before their very eyes.
Also, the CG that was used to produce the scene where the YF-19 makes a space fold in this episode became the talk of town as an innovative experiment. The production of the surface of the airframe that greatly undulates when cruising in Fold Space was, at the time, a very novel presentation, and it seems possible to say that the goal of the CG that was introduced in the series was sufficiently achieved.
