The history of home games that can satisfy the "Macross" world.
The popularity of the Macross series also spread to the game industry, and software has been sold that used the Macross series as their subject for several types of hardware. The first-ever Macross game, "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" (Bandai) was released in 1983 for the game console "Arcadia", which Bandai had acquired the license for at the time and sold domestically. It was popular as a horizontally scrolling shooting game that used the VF-1S from "Do You Remember Love?" as the protagonist's aircraft.
Entering the 1990's, the shooting game "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross 2036" (Mesaiya), which was linked to the 1992 OVA "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II -Lovers Again-", was sold for the PC engine. Together with the sequel that was sold in the same year, "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Eternal Love Song" (this was a simulation RPG), the developments of the original stories earned a favourable reputation among fans. In 1993, the side-scrolling shooting game "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Scramble Valkyrie" (Bandai) was also released for the Super Famicon.
When the PlayStation and Sega Saturn high-performance consoles appeared, many shooting games appeared in 3DCG. In connection to Kawamori Shōji's participation from the development stage, Kazutaka Miyatake, Mikimoto Haruhiko and others participated in the 1997 released PlayStation software "Macross Digital Mission VF-X" (Bandai Visual).
On the other hand, related games were released for the Game Boy Colour and Wonder Swan portable game consoles, and the 3D shooting game series that started with "Macross Ace Frontier" (Bandai Namco Games) for the PlayStation Portable was released. A lot of VFs appeared, and it won popularity as software that summarized the Macross series.
In addition, to commemorate Macross's 30th anniversary in 2013, "Macross 30 ~The Singing Voice That Connects The Galaxy~" was also released, which was a crossover of the successive generations of Macross characters. It became a suitable game for the milestone in the history of the Macross series.

Among them, the earliest game that was sold was the shooter referred to as "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" (Bandai), which was released in '83 for the foreign game console Arcadia. Thereafter, "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" (Bandai) was released for the FamiCom, and it was popular as a horizontally scrolling shooting game that used the theatrical edition VF-1S as the protagonist's aircraft. Entering the '90's, the shooting game "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross 2036" (Mesaiya), which was linked to the '92 production "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II -Lovers Again-", was sold for the PC Engine. Together with the sequel that was sold in the same year, "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Eternal Love Song" (this was a simulation RPG), the developments of the original stories pleased fans. In '93, the side-scrolling shooting game "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Scramble Valkyrie" (Bandai) was released for the Super Famicon. It became the first game to adopt the three-step transformation, which is the appeal of the VFs, in a game set in 2010.
When the PlayStation and Sega Saturn high performance consoles appeared, many shooting games appeared in 3DCG. Since the '97 released "Macross Digital Mission VF-X", a lot of games appeared in which director Kawamori Shōji and the other main staff participated, and they are games that faithfully reproduced the "Macross" world view.
On the other hand, related games were released for the Game Boy Colour and Wonder Swan portable game consoles, and the latest work, "Macross Ace Frontier" (Bandai Namco Games), was released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). It is software that summarized the entire "Macross" series, such as with the appearance of more than 100 VFs in this production.
