30th Anniversary Macross Super Dimensional Exhibition - Lured By The Valkyrie!
The Deculture Exhibition that ran through Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

The "Macross Super Dimensional Exhibition" was an event held as a part of the "Macross 30th Anniversary Project", which took place in 2012. With all sorts of content, centred on the "Macross F" series, such as an introduction of the characters that appear, an introductory character interrelation chart, the tale of the successive generations of Macross series, exposition on the mecha that appear, and an introduction to the songstresses, it became an exhibition that surely looked back on the series' 30 years of history. The centrepiece of the exhibit was the VF-25, which is based on the animation CG setting, and was built in the 1/1 size. As a model that was supervised by Kawamori Shoji and Tenjin Hidetaka, even the details such as the interior of the cockpit and the insides of the intakes were reproduced in detail; and on top of one being able to sense the size of a Valkyrie, there was also a service where one could get on the right hand and have a commemorative picture taken. It was a popular display that was crowded by attendees every day (after being exhibited from Aug. 2013 to Sept. 2013 in Yokohama Minatomori Station, this actual size VF-25 became a permanent exhibit in the Chiba Institute Of Technology campus in Tokyo Sky Tree from Feb. 2014.
In addition to that, life-sized Ranka, Sheryl, and Minmei figures, and Ranka carnival cutouts (Ranka's "Starlight Natto" and "7-Colour Carrots" advertising costumes with the face cut out) were prepared for the venues; and in the Osaka venue, a Macross appeared in the skies of the venue due to AR markers. They became events where participants could experience the world of the Macross series in life-size. In addition, one could say that the places where participants could voluntarily be affected by the Macross world, such as being able to attend in cosplay on specific days at each venue, and preparing a karaoke stage in the Tokyo venue -where participants could sing the successive generations of Macross songs-, were interesting devices.
This event, which was held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo during Golden Week*, from Apr. 28 to May. 6, thereafter toured Nagoya (Chubu International Airport / Jun. 1 to 3), and Osaka (Dec. 22 to Jan. 14). Nakajima Megumi talk events were also held during the exhibition in the Tokyo and Osaka venues, and the events appeared to be lively.

When the exhibition was held in Osaka, a project also took place where a life-sized SDF-1 Macross could be seen floating in the skies over the venue in Smartphones that had the free "Super Dimensional AR Macross -Osaka ver.-" application installed in them.

Entrance
The venues were Sunshine City Exhibition Hall A (Tokyo), a specially installed hall in Chubu Centrair International Airport (Nagoya), and the Hirakata Park Event Hall (Osaka). Large-sized posters were affixed in the vicinity of the venue entrance in each venue, and they attracted people to the exhibition.

Caption: [Osaka] Hirakata Park -a large amusement park-, created a lively atmosphere by affixing such things as a remarkably large poster at the venue entrance, in addition to a horizontal banner with an actual size YF-30.

Character Zone
With an introduction of the characters that appear in "Macross F" first on the list, it was a zone that introduced the Macross series chronology, production and character interrelation diagrams, an explanation of the successive generations of productions, and the history of the Macross series from the characters' point of view. Three-dimensional objects, such as Aruto's amulet, [Ranka's] Giant Salamander Phone*, and Sheryl's earring, were also displayed.

* Translator's note: literally: "Mr. Japanese Giant Salamander". Phonetically: "Ōsanshōuo-san".

Mechanic Zone
The 1/1 scale VF-25 was the exhibition's greatest showpiece, and the service where one could have their picture taken on the right hand was very popular. For the whole day, participants formed lines for it. In addition, such things as the exhibit of the successive generations of Yamato-made Valkyrie toys, the panel that summarized the Valkyrie genealogy, and the panel of the successive generations of Valkyrie drawings, introduced the mecha of the Macross series in various forms.

Song Zone
In addition to the lyrics of their representative songs and introductory music videos, life-sized figures of Minmei, Ranka, and Sheryl were also displayed in the zone, which featured the successive generations of songstresses. Also, stages were laid out in the free spaces where participants could take pictures.

Shop (Osaka)
There were also cafés and booths -which sold Macross goods- in each venue, and they were crowded with attendees who were satisfied by the exhibition. In addition, a display corner for the latest game, "Macross 30 -The Singing Voice That Connects The Galaxy", was also constructed at the Osaka venue.

A "Macross Shrine" was set up inside the venue, and such services as Omikuji* and Ema* took place in the Osaka venue, which was held during the New Year's holiday, from Dec. 12, 2012 to Jan. 14, 2013. In addition, from Dec. 22 to the 25, a large Christmas tree -decorated with Macross characters- was also displayed outdoors.
