The New "Macross" World That Blossomed In The Theatre
Aiming at 'a musical special to "Macross"'

This production, "Macross The Musicalture", which was planned as part of the "Macross 30th Anniversary Project", wasn't an animated production like the existing ones, but was performed in the theatre as a musical. The frank approach in the meaning of this production, said to be "making a play in a musical form" that also handles "music" as a major theme in the successive generations of "Macross" series, became a large topic at the time the project was announced. On the one hand, this production is an original one whose story is set in the Emigrant Fleet Macross 29 (Two-nine); on the other, the music is selected from the group of successive generations of productions, such as "Triangular", "Do You Remember Love?", and "Seventh Moon", and it produces the appearance of the world that is special to the "Macross" series. Also, the design and costume of each character was a very interesting experiment that was produced based on the original planning from the popular illustrator Hidari, who was in charge of the illustrations for the light novel "Sasami-san @ Ganbaranai] and draughting the characters of the anime "Natsuiro Kiseki", This production, which was held in the Tokyo Dome City Hall and presented a new "Macross" world to the audience, was performed a total of 8 times, from 2012.10.03 to 10.08.

Story
2062 AD. The economy of the 29th Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Macross 29 (Two-nine) has failed, and it has reached the extremes of distress. Young Viggo Walgria, who leads the radical Zentraadi group "Neo Zentran", realizes that the "non-combat doctrine" policy is an error and one of the causes of the fleet's failure, and declares his candidacy in the next mayoral election. On the other hand, current mayor Serge announces the holding of a "Miss Macross Contest", in order to improve his approval rating. Ash and Sakura, who once studied dance and music with Viggo, became concerned with the Miss Macross Contest, with their respective desires in their hearts...

Viggo Walgria
(Performer: Horose Yuuseke)
The young leader of the Zentraadi "Neo-Zentran" group, which advocates the revival of military power. Even though he worked hard at song and dance together with Ash and Sakura in his high school days, he took advantage of a certain incident, and converted to the radical group.

Sakura Crawford
(Performer: Yoshii Kanae)
A childhood friend of Ash. She's a regular customer of the City 29 branch of the Chinese Restaurant "Nyan-nyan", and her favourite dish is ramen. Even though she admires Lynn Minmei, starting with an incident in the past, it became impossible for her to sing.

Ash Anderson
(Performer: Tsuchiya Shion)
A young man who's fond of playing around with machines, Ash is the childhood friend of Viggo and Sakura. Although he dreamt of becoming the best dancer in the galaxy, he lost his left leg in a past event, and was cut off from his dream. Currently, he is working part-time at "Nyan-nyan".

Daryl Walgria
(Performer: Uesugi Risa)
Viggo's younger sister. She received special education for the gifted in song and dance from a young age, in order to learn culture and not lose to Earthlings, and she participates in the Miss Macross Contest for her older brother, whom she respects.

El
(Performer: Hinata Ayumi)
A cyberoid girl that Ash found in a scrap storehouse. Currently, he is repairing Ash, and he lives with her. As the repairs aren't complete, she can only talk with a smattering of words, and her speech is also bad.

Sonia Dosel
(Performer: Hasegawa Ai)
She's a quarter Zentraadi, and is the employment manager of "Nyan-nyan". Her grandfather is Rory Dosel, who experienced culture for the first time in the founding "Macross". Her passion for music is stronger than others, probably because of that.

Charlotte Marion-Glass
(Performer: Tomita Maho)
Mayor Serge's daughter. The daughter of a high class family has a somewhat uncooperative and high-handed character. She proposes holding the "Miss Macross Contest" in order to improve her father's approval rating. "Macross F"'s President Glass seems to be a relative of hers.
