Related Matter: The SDF-1 Macross And South Ataria Island
The SDF-1 Macross is the ship that was built by repairing the ASS-1 alien space battleship. However, the investigation of and repair work on the ASS-1, which extends to a 1,200 m length, cannot help but be performed on-site on South Ataria Island. Together with the state of progress of that work, military related facilities and every kind of civilian facility -in order to support the military ones - were constructed around the SDF-1. Around the time that the repair work was completed, they succeeded in developing that into one of the, at the time, cutting-edge cities.

Caption: South Ataria Island immediately following the ASS-1's fall. At that time it was a solitary, unpopulated island in the southern sea. The area that was gouged out by the fall, became the town sector as is.

Caption: Even though the SDF-1 was bizarrely giant when compared to the surrounding streets, the islanders were used to seeing it as the town was maintained centred on the ship.
