Gigiru's Ship*
The Assault Ship that's known as "Gigiru's Ship" is a warship based on the design of the Standard Battle Line Battleship that's been designed to strengthen its combined performance. Even though it is equipped with large beam guns and double the energy conversion armour, the operational weight has become twice that of the battleship it's based on, and it became impossible to maintain a satisfactory speed with the initially planned enhancement of the engines used by the Standard Battle Line Battleship. Also, because the demand for output has also increased, the result is the adoption of a newly designed engine, and it became a large warship whose operational weight is three times greater than that of the battleship. Even though it is endowed with excellent performance, because the cost is said to be ten times that of the Standard Battle Line Battleship, it was produced in small numbers, and only 12 are considered to be in possession of the Varohta Forces.

* Translator's note: identified as Assault Ship on the preceding page.

Left: mark on the warship's bow

Down/right: The hangar section is in the upper half of the warship's stern, and the open part in the warship's stern is an open-style gate for the hangar. The underside of the hangar section is the engine section.

Bridge
Illustrations that show the bridge's interior front (top) and rear (bottom). In the front is a combined window and large screen, and on the opposite side is the the captain's seat. Embedded-style operator seats are lined up in the surface of the floor.

Up: The armaments are mostly internal types in a warship that has a stealthy-designed straight-lined polyhedron configuration. The lenses of the large-bore guns are exposed in the center of the warship's sides.

Left: Carrier-borne aircraft catapult ports are laid out in the warship's bow, and there is a large sensor in the front of the upper part, which is referred to as the Aegis Head. Also, the fin structures located in the top and bottom of the rear of the warship are heat sinks.

Standard Battle Line Battleship
The Standard Battle Line Battleship is a mass-produced battleship that is operated as the capital ships of the Varohta Forces, and it is characterized by the energy conversion armour that is arrayed in the planks of armour that are common in the warships of the Varohta Fleet. The production costs are held down because the ship are mass produced, and things like its operational performance are equivalent to that of an average level Earth warship from the same period. On the other hand, the Varohta Forces did not have a dedicated aircraft carrier, so the ability to operate a maximum of around 40 Variable Fighters was bestowed onto this battleship. When two to three of these battleships operate together, they exhibit a carrier-borne aircraft deployment capability that is proportionate to a regular carrier. In addition, it is said that the Varohta Forces possessed 57 Standard Battle Line Battleships.

Caption: The Varohta Forces Standard Battle Line Battleship engaged in a fleet battle with the Macross 7 Fleet. The battleship was used in extensive situations, from operations where it composed the battle strength of large-scale fleets to single warship feint missions.

Data:
Length: 600 m
Operational Mass: 180,000 t
Maximum Instantaneous Acceleration: under investigation
Engine: under investigation
Fold Engine: under investigation
Standard Armament: 2x Main Battery, a great number of Sub-Batteries, a great number of Large Anti-Ship Missiles
Ship-borne Craft: on the order of 30 to 40 craft

Left: From things like the hull heat sinks and bow carrier-borne aircraft launch ports, it looks like the battleship has inherited its design from the Assault Ship.

Left: The bow carrier-borne aircraft launch port is proven to be for large craft. Also, the front half of the hull is covered with armour composed of planks.

Right: The upper open part of the warship's stern is a hanger gate that has an emergency shutter, and the lower one is the propulsion nozzle of the engine compartment.

Armament
A Main Battery

The firing nozzle of the Main Battery is located a little bit toward the rear of the hull, and the beam is aligned [with the target] by twisting it in a deflection field.

B Sub-Battery
There are four Sub-Batteries on both the right and left of the front of the hull. Things like the firing method and a construction that only exposes the firing nozzle are the same as the Main Battery.

C Missiles
The lower part of the front of the warship is composed of sliding-type missile magazines (right side of the figure). Each one is loaded with nine Large Anti-Warship Missiles.

D Catapults
The top part of the front of the warship are Fz-109 Erugaazorun standard ship-borne aircraft catapults. They are constructed to sequentially launch one aircraft each, starting from the rear.

High-Speed Raiding Space Cruiser
In a light space cruiser design that stresses navigational performance, the High-Speed Raiding Space Cruiser boasts the highest speed among the warships of the Varohta Forces. The fold system has also been enhanced so that the attainable range in one fold cruise is long, and it has just enough surplus output to also make a refold within a short time of defolding. Moreover, the armament and armour are excellent compared to the cruiser's size, and the ship is able to cope with extensive usage as it is said to have infiltration manoeuvring for special forces activities, like reconnaissance in-force and intelligence missions. Furthermore, it is said that 92 cruisers were operated by the Varohta Forces.

Data:
Length: 366 m
Operational Mass: 32,500 t
Maximum Instantaneous Acceleration: under investigation
Engine: under investigation
Fold Engine: under investigation
Standard Armament: 2x Main Battery, 4x Sub-battery, a great number of Missiles
Ship-borne Craft: on the order of 12 to 16 craft

Up: Though the hull configuration is similar to that of the Standard Battle-Line Battleship, the cruiser has a smarter shape, without apertures in the bow or stern, and it has a degraded ship-borne aircraft operating capability.

Left: The front of the cruiser is armed with missile and carrier-borne aircraft firing mechanisms, which are in-common with the Standard Battle-Line Battleship and so on. The curved configuration of the warship's structure indicates that it is an old-generation stealth warship.

Right: Bridge close-up illustration.

Up: One Main Battery and two Sub-Batteries per side are arranged on the left and right sides of the hull, and the structure of each battery is the same as the other Varohta Forces warships.

Large Battroid Transport Mother-ship
It is said that 43 were operated as the main transport ship of the Varohta Forces. It has the ability to transport a maximum of about 100 Variable Fighters as freight. Furthermore, it has the fighting strength of a destroyer class ship, and both the fold cruising ability and speed level to enable it to accompany the cruiser. While it is perfectly able to endure operations as a battleship because of those abilities, on the other hand, because much of the ship's interior space is used as a cargo compartment, its ability to make use of carrier borne aircraft is inferior to the other Varohta warships, and its overall combat ability is somewhat low.

Data:
Length: 684 m
Operational Mass: 195,000 t
Maximum Instantaneous Acceleration: under investigation
Engine: under investigation
Fold Engine: under investigation
Standard Armament: 2x Main Battery, 6x Sub-Battery, a great number of Missiles
Ship-borne Craft: about 3 to 4 aircraft (for self-defence. A maximum of about 100 aircraft can be carried as cargo).

Right: It is different from the other Varohta warships, and it features a structure where the armour planks are, above all else, arranged on the top and bottom. The point where the upper part of the hull are catapults and the lower part are missile magazines is in common with the other Varohta warships.

Down: Even though the layout with the upper half of the rear hull being a storage compartment and the lower part being the engine section is identical to the other warships, space for the aircraft hangar section is ensured to be greater than that of the other warships.

Left: An illustration of the hull when viewed from the front. The ship adopted a structure with a diamond shape cross section that takes stealthiness into account.

Vanguard Frigate
The multi-purpose light destroyer of the Varohta Forces. It is assumed that 294 were operated, and they are the most abundantly produced warship of the Varohta Forces. This size of warship excels in the balance of mobility with armaments and armour. In addition, its versatility is also high because the frigate can be equipped with 2 (a maximum of 3) Variable Fighters, and it possesses the ability to accomplish various missions. The Vanguard Frigate showed a high operability, and it was put into every service, from fleet-scale operations to small-scale reconnaissance, enemy searches, escort, and intelligence actions.

Data:
Length: 168 m
Operational Mass: 1,500 t
Maximum Instantaneous Acceleration: under investigation
Engine: under investigation
Fold Engine: under investigation
Standard Armament: 2x Main Battery, 4x Sub-Battery, 2x Rapid-Fire High-Manoeuvrability Launcher, a great number of Anti-Warship Missiles
Ship-borne Craft: 2 aircraft (maximum 3).

Down/Right: The same as the other warships, the upper half of the rear of the hull is an aircraft hanger, and the lower half is the engine section. The lower part of the center of the hull is armed with a Large Anti-Warship Missile launching mechanism.

Up: Front

Left: Beam Guns / High-Speed Missile Launcher
In the sides of the center of the hull are a concentrated arrangement of beam guns (main batteries and sub-batteries) and rapid fire High-Manoeuvrability Missile launchers. Even though it is a small warship, it has excellent firepower in its abundant armaments, and it also played an active role in large-scale fleet battles such as the battle on orbit of the Planet Rakusu.
