SDF-2 Megaroad-01:
The Megaroad class No.1 ship, which became the flagship of the Mankind Migration Plan's first formation.
Aircraft Explanation:
The Megaroad class Super Long Range Emigrant Ship Megaroad-01 was also said to be the ark for mankind's departure on its trip to space. It is an emigrant ship from the earliest period, which bore the Mankind Sowing Project, and pulled out into the galaxy. This ship, which was designed as a large-scale mothership for space emigrants, placed emphasis on long-term cruising abilities and livability, and made the best use of the know-how that was obtained from the SDF-1. Although the number of people that could be accommodated was greatly decreased from the SDF-1 to 25,000 people, that was because this class increased the amount of materials it could be equipped with in preparation for a long-term cruise, and the residential facilities were remarkably improved. On the other hand, the ship isn't suitable for combat, because it has only a minimum level of armaments and the rigidity of the hull is also low. This ship's mission was to protect the human race as a species.

Fleet Structure*
The greatest feature of the first half of the Megaroad 01's hull is the urban area that's wrapped in screens and a frame. The city is furnished with a closed-cycle long-term residential system. Also, by securing sufficient material stores and production sections within the ship, its said that the crew could flexibly lead their lives. However, the weight limit from such a structure is low, and the ship was considered to have had insufficient manoeuvrability and acceleration performance.**

The SDF-2, which is the equivalent to the prototype of the Megaroad-01, was designed as the Macross class No.2 ship, which was prefixed with the ship name "Megaroad". The SDF-2, whose construction was advanced at the same time as the SDF-1's restoration, incorporated more than enough technical feedback obtained by restoring the SDF-1. When the SDF-2 was designed and being built, it boasted a gigantic figure with a length of 1,620 m and an operational inertial weight of 20.7 million t (the project's initial plan). The SDF-2 was constructed in the underground shipyard of the Unified Forces Apollo Base on the Moon's surface, because the surface of the moon was convenient, where gravity is 1/6 that of Earth.*
Consequently, the SDF-2 escaped from the ravages of war in the First Interstellar War, and by being remodelled after the end of the war into the Emigrant Megaroad 01, it came to contribute a speedy execution of the Mankind Sowing Plan. In addition, when remodelled as the Megaroad 01, the technological level of space battleships progressed greatly, due to such things as the data acquired from the SDF-1 in the First Interstellar War and the technology that was brought by the Zentraadi Forces, and the majority of the ship became newly designed to the extent that there were only a few aspects of the look of the SDF-2 left in the exterior of the main engines and the command and control block.*

Right: As a warship made purely by Earth, which received and developed the SDF-1's technical feedback, its objective was long-term tactical operations as a lone ship. Although its silhouette is close to that of the SDF-1, it is larger than it.

Related Matter: The Mankind Sowing Plan*
Even though the human race experienced a war with the group of Zentraadi giants, the Mankind Sowing Plan was a large-scale emigration project that searched for places where mankind could survive in space, in order for the human species to survive.** The bones of that core idea were the organization and dispatch of Emigrant fleets to every quarter of the galaxy. In the plan, Super Long Range Emigration and Short Range Emigration were concurrently carried out to attempt to smooth progress and decentralize risks, and the fleets worked individually to search for livable spheres. Such space emigration was vigorously advanced from then, and the sphere of the human race's activity in the galaxy rapidly expanded.
