Aircraft Commentary
The redesign of the ADR-03 Mk III Cheyenne, which was implemented during the Unification War, is the Cheyenne II. Even though the Cheyenne II took over the Cheyenne's outward appearance almost without change, there are also many altered points. Concretely, there has been such things as the conversion to a thermonuclear reactor (the Destroid it was modelled on had a gas turbine), the modernization and increase in the armaments, and the enhancement of the rocket motor used in outer space, as well as an increase in the vernier engines. Also, the internal structure is completely changed, even though one section of the parts is diverted, and the performance has been greatly improved. Prior to its deployment, the Macross Frontier's escorting New Unified Forces and S.M.S. understood that the Cheyenne II would be used for such things as combat inside the Islands, antiaircraft attacks from armoured shelters on the warships, and missile attacks during the Macross Attack.

Caption: The Cheyenne II was easy to use inside the Emigrant Ships, because in addition to the foot-ankle assembly rollers having excellent rolling stability, they also didn't easily damage the pavement surfaces.

Cheyenne II
Similarly to the Cheyenne Destroid it is modelled on, which was classified as an ADR (Anti-air Defence Robot = Anti-aircraft Interception Type), the Cheyenne II is also a Destroid whose main duty is anti-aircraft attacks. However, the Cheyenne II has a performance that doesn't stop at being merely an enhanced type of Cheyenne. In addition to an expansion of the operational area due to such things as propulsion devices and auxiliary verniers, which give the ability to cope with combat in outer space, and rollers furnished with a Magnetic Attachment System, that is easily used for high-speed movement on the decks of space vessels, the Cheyenne II anti-hard target fire power has been increased due to installation of charged particle guns. It excels in multi-purposefulness. With this sort of multi-purposefulness, even though to a certain extent the Cheyenne II is shown to be a substitution of other models such as the SDR (Space Defence Robot = Space Interception / Short-Range Defence type) and the MBR (Main Battle Robot = Battle type), we bow our head in agreement that Destroids other than the Cheyenne II are hardly seen in the Frontier Fleet. In addition, it is thought that the reason for its use in the Frontier Fleet's New Unified Forces is because the Cheyenne II is also suitable for operations in the Islands -where a lot of the area exists as level land- due to the foot-ankle assembly rollers.

Caption: Besides performing anti-aircraft attacks aboard warships in foot-ankle assembly protecting armoured shelters -just like the Destroid it is based on-, it seems that the Cheyenne II can be remotely controlled from the warship side.

Caption: In addition to accompanying President Glass as his guard in the Aimo Anniversary Parade, the Cheyenne II guarded Ranka Lee's live performance, which was held in Mihoshi Academy.

Armament
The armaments of the Cheyenne II, such as a set of dissimilar firearms commonly bound to the main axis of the arms, the 4-tube missile launchers, and the groin anti-personnel machine-gun, have been enriched to that of an average MBR class Destroid. As each of these firearms drastically differs in the presence or absence of such things as special ballistic qualities, and bullet speed and guidance functions, it seems that a fire control system that can simultaneously operate several different armaments is installed in the Cheyenne II. In addition, the Cheyenne II is equipped with a large radar pod so that a single Cheyenne II can do such things as capture an enemy aircraft, and align and guide the firearms onto it.

1) 4-tube Bifors AA/AS-SAM-22 Anti-Air Close-Range Missile Launcher MK.16
The Cheyenne II is equipped with Bifors 4-tube Anti-Air Close-Range Missile Launchers. The launchers are known to have been used during the Macross Attack.

3) Mauler PBG-17 Charged Particle Beam Gun
The forearm Mauler PBG-17 Charged Particle Beam Gun are arranged in parallel with the Gatling Gun equipment. Even though it has the greatest firepower for the Cheyenne II, it isn't known if there is an example showing its use while on duty, as the Gatling Gun was frequently used. In addition to being able to exchange the arm guns for a flamethrower, units also existed that had been equipped with cannons for a gun salute, and were used in such things as ceremonies.

4) GE-made 30 mm 6-barrel Gatling Gun
Even though the Cheyenne II has Gatling Guns that can be inferred to have fire power and rapid-fire abilities that exceed the ones for the Cheyenne, the Cheyenne II was defeated by the Vajra, who didn't have a great bullet resistance.*

Destroid Works
The Destroid for work that's based on the Cheyenne II is the Works. The main points that have been improved on the Works are the removal of such things as the guns and radar, and the exchange of the arm equipment for 5-fingered manipulators, which can also be used for precision work. In addition, as the Works isn't for combat, in addition to being painted in bitter orange and warning colours that easily stand out, the Works has had warning lights installed on the shoulders. Because of its work efficiency, which was brought about by the great power of the base military Destroid and the high-precision manipulators, it was valued highly, and the Works was invested into various heavy operations.

Caption: Although it was made to be lightweight, as it has an output equal to that of the Cheyenne II, the Works can even transport multi-dozen t class heavy weights. The Works was also brought in to recover the remains of the Vajra.

Related Matter: [Zero] Destroid Cheyenne
The ADR-03-MkIII Cheyenne Destroid, which was the model of the Cheyenne II, is the earliest Destroid, and it was even operated in the Unification War.* The Cheyenne featured high reliability and low price because of such things as the non-installation of beam weapons and the use of existing technology, such as a gas turbine engine. The Cheyenne is the only mass-produced 03-series experimental Destroid, and it came into existence during the transition period to the 04-series.
