Valkyries With Boosters For Atmospheric Escape

Aircraft Explanation
The VF-1J is equipped with a booster for atmospheric escape on the rear of the fuselage in order to launch to space from the ground. The large booster, which exceeds 18 m when installed on a VF, has 4 x 4 rocket engines built into it that amount to 22,500 kg of thrust, and it enables atmospheric escape within a short time. In addition, after separating, the booster has a function that returns it to base on autopilot.

Related Matter: The Additional Equipment For The VF-1J
Various faults were identified in the VF-1 series, such as armour weakness, and low utilization efficiency regarding the high output engines. The VF-1J wasn't an exception either, and cases where additional equipment was used in order to resolve those problems were confirmed. Ichijo Hikaru performed a patrol mission and battled the enemy in the "Armoured Valkyrie" form, which was the "GBP-1S"* additional equipment - developed for ground warfare - , equipped onto his beloved VF-1J. The exo-atmospheric additional equipment "Super Parts", which were by the efforts of Shinnakasu Heavy Industry - who produced the J model under licence -, exist as additional equipment that was newly developed in the same way as the Armoured Valkyrie. The VF-1 series Valkyries that had the super parts installed on them were referred to by the nickname "Super Valkyrie", and Valkyries were often operated in this form from the latter period of the First Interstellar War.

* Translator's note: originally was "GPS-1S" and was indicated as an error in the original edition.
