Special Forces EX-Gear
The military EX-Gear variation that supports special missions.

Caption: An EX-Gear that is improved from the point of view that the special characteristics of EX-Gear are combat and construction powered suits. As a special forces specification EX-Gear, only a small number were produced.

Caption: Compared to normal EX-Gear, its operating sounds are completely silenced, and it enables covert actions that even Cyborg Soldiers don't notice.

Aircraft Explanation:
A variation of Military EX-Gear, which supports special duties, such as infiltration and subversive activities. In general, the existence itself of this type of EX-Gear isn't made public. In addition to enhancing the optics and acoustical sensors for infiltration missions, composite materials are heavily used in it in order to improve manoeuvrability, and it has been lightened. Also, its operating sounds are extremely quiet because of the improvements to the joint swivels and operating actuators, and its options -such as the Hover Unit and Gliding Wheels- use custom-made items that have had quietening measures applied to them. Although camouflage paint has been applied to the surface of the body, this is a sticker, and according to the mission, it is possible to change the paint (re-cover the surface) in a short time. Even though the flight speed has been somewhat improved due to the lightening of its systems, it is high-priced equipment that requires more than double the supply cost compared to normal Military EX-Gear.

Operation Record
The Macross Galaxy Fleet fell into a state of devastation because of a Vajra attack, and some of the evacuee ships escaped destruction. Although the evacuee ships joined with and were absorbed into the Macross Frontier Fleet, at that time a great number of Galaxy Fleet Cyborg Soldier covert operatives, who had slipped into the evacuees, infiltrated into the fleet.
Although their objective was the takeover of the Frontier Fleet, Leon Mishima had been catching wind of their movements for some time. When the upper echelons of the Galaxy Fleet began their operation to control the Frontier Fleet, Mishima designated that the Galaxy Fleet covert operatives be suppressed. As the countermeasure to the Cyborg Soldiers, who have excellent combat abilities, Mishima deployed the Special EX-Gear Force, which was organized for anti-Cyborg Soldier use. Due to the great efforts of the Special Forces, the covert operatives, including Colonel Grace Godunuv, were suppressed in the twinkling of the eye.

Caption: The operation to gain total control by the Galaxy Fleet was perceived by the Frontier Fleet, and the Special Forces swiftly suppressed it. Even the upper stratum of the Galaxy Fleet, who were interfering in the Frontier Fleet's network, didn't appear to sense this action.

Caption: Grace was the substantial commander of the operation to gain control, and she was also completely outwitted and captured by the Special Forces without time to resist them.

Standard Equipment
Originally, the EX-Gear System was developed as a Pilot Suit System that supported the next generation Variable Fighters, such as the VF-25. However, the Special Forces EX-Gear succeeds in improvements that emphasize its aspects as a "Combat Powered Suit", which is another feature of EX-Gear. In regards to its equipment, with the cooperation of the L.A.I. Co., its greatest features are the application of Implant Technology and the application of anti-Cyborg Soldier armaments. It is conceivable that for some time the Frontier Fleet assumed that there was a threat from Implant Technology.

Anti-Cyborg Rifle
A Standard Military Rifle that has been enhanced to oppose the Macross Galaxy Cyborg Soldiers. In order to increase penetration, it uses overpressure ammunition that have had an exclusive coating applied to the shells. A grenade launcher and harpoon launcher can be mounted on the lower part of the front of the weapon.

Caption: The anti Cyborg Soldier harpoon launcher. As something that was developed based on Implant Technology, it suppresses the movements of the Cyborg Soldiers.

Flight Unit
Although the EX-Gear's backpack usually functions as a flight unit for emergency escape, the Special Forces EX-Gear makes the best use of that flight ability and uses it for special operations. Even though there is only a small difference with the general Military EX-Gear, due to the lightening of the Special Forces EX-Gear, flight abilities have been improved to a certain extent. Camouflage is applied to the flight unit with stickers that are identical to those on the main body.

Caption: Making the best use of the EX-Gear's flight abilities, it becomes possible to perform tactical activities and infiltration in high places. Despite it being only for a short time, the EX-Gear can also hover, and it supports an extensive range of tactics.

Caption: The wings are folded up when making operational actions in narrow places, such as passageways. According to the mission, there were also times when the Special Forces EX-Gear acted without being equipped with the backpack.

Related Matter: EX-Gear Variations
The EX-Gear that was developed as the cockpit system of the next generation Variable Fighters is an anti-G suit that was also a part of the cockpit unit. Not only does it exceed the performance of traditional anti-G suits, it also improved the pilot's survival rate. Structurally, it's something that is called a powered suit, and it implemented an improvement in the operator's physical abilities and an expansion of the movement range with the Flight Unit.

Down: Consumer EX-Gear And The Common Standard
Although EX-Gear was developed for military uses, the common standard simplified version Consumer EX-Gear spread. If one is skilled in the system, than one is also able to handle the ones for the military for a short time.

Caption: The big reason why Aruto was able to control Gilliam's VF-25 was the spread of Consumer EX-Gear.

Down: Also Supports Combat As A Powered Suit
The units of each part that form such things as the EX-Gear's arms and chest also function as bullet resistant armour. Due to its flight abilities and the enhancement of the wearer's physical abilities, EX-Gear was also able to deal with combat.

Caption: Ozuma being showered with Brera's bullets. Even though he was injured, he didn't bear any fatal wounds, and that verified the EX-Gear's great defensive capabilities.
