Aircraft Explanation
The armaments used in S.M.S. widely cover the nature of S.M.S.'s missions - from the Macross Quarter Class Space Carrier to VFs and Destroids. Even though the S.M.S. in around 2059 hastened the deployment of the state-of-the-art VF-25 aircraft, some of the force still used models from one generation prior, such as the VF-19EF - a VF-19 monkey model. Also, regarding S.M.S.'s flexibility toward the armaments that are used, it's said that there are also occasionally examples of aircraft that other businesses and individuals had "brought" being operated in S.M.S..*

VF-19EF/A "Isamu Spacial"

Operation Record
The VF-19EF/A, nicknamed "Isamu Dyson Special", is the personal aircraft of Isamu Dyson, who belongs to S.M.S.. Isamu has a splendid career, where he served as the YF-19's test pilot in the Super Nova Project that was executed in 2040. In 2059, he had left the New Unified Forces and enlisted in S.M.S. (it's said that he disliked the additional desk work due to promotion in the Unified Forces, and pursued the way of life as a pilot).
Even though Isamu desired the VF-19A as the aircraft he boards when he transferred to S.M.S., as only a small quantity of the VF-19EF detuned edition were deployed within S.M.S. due to restrictions placed on the VF-19 series that was deployed at that time, it was close to impossible to deploy the VF-19A.
Isamu, who was dissatisfied with that, aimed at contacting his old friend, Dr. Jan Neumann, who had become Shinsei Industry's VF development adviser. Even though Isamu seems to have initially requested that he sell the parts of a VF-19A through illegal channels, Dr. Jan didn't comply, and presented the "VF-19ADVANCE" Project to the Shinsei Industry company as an alternative plan, where he aimed at "the development of a prototype to improve and prolong the life of the VF-19, as close to 20 years have passed since its development". A sentence that reads, "the completed aircraft will be "consigned" to S.M.S.'s Isamu Dyson, and he'll carry out the testing", is nonchalantly included in the project document


Aircraft Explanation
Even though the Shinsei Industry Co. promoted the development of the ISC inertia control mechanism equipped next generation YF-24, the "VF-19ADVANCE" Project was tacitly consented to as a private plan of Dr. Jan. For that reason, even though there wasn't an abundance of development costs, Isamu is considered to have compensated for it by investing the majority of his salary that he earned at S.M.S. into it.
The outline of the plan is a remodelling of a VF-19EF into a YF-19, in addition to aiming at even higher performance. Also, due to Isamu's strong wishes, the Integrated Air Combat Program that's installed in this aircraft is the implementation of the original edition of the "ARIEL" Integrated Air Combat Program, which was installed in the YF-19 (the No.3 aircraft).
The combat thrust of the VF-19EF/A's engine thrust is improved close to 10% due to exchanging some of the engine parts and improving the control program, and its responsiveness is also considered to have become better (even though the loaded avionics are also exchanged for the latest version in the VF-19 series, the details haven't been made public).
The standard paint of New Edwards Base has been applied to the completed VF-19EF/A "Isamu Special", and its exterior is almost the same as the former YF-19.

Caption: The appearance itself is almost identical to the YF-19, and the forward swept wings, which are the feature of the prototype aircraft, are also as is. In comparative testing carried out later in private, there is a big difference in the maximum thrust of the engines, and it's said that it demonstrated air combat manoeuvrability that surpassed the ISC equipped VF-25, to the surprise of the parties concerned.

Caption: The VF-19EF/A was invested into the battle at the Vajra Homeworld in 2059. Its appearance -wildly flying about the battlefield- was witnessed by a great number of pilots.

Up: The three orthographic views of the VF-19EF/A (equipped with Super Parts). This aircraft's Super Parts are the ones for the VF-25, with one part remodelled and installed on the VF-19EF/A. The aircraft was confirmed when the S.M.S. Allied Forces stormed the Vajra Homeworld. Two VF-19EF/A (including the spare aircraft) are considered to have been produced.

Caption: The Super-Parts equipment attempt to increase thrust outside of the atmosphere, and enhance the armaments. In addition, although the VF-19EF that are operated by the S.M.S. Frontier Branch are considered to be equipped with EX-Gear, this aircraft didn't have the EX-Gear System installed in it.

VF-25A Messiah
The deployment of the state-of-the-art VF advances within S.M.S.. Although there are squadrons where each squadron member paints their VF-25 in personal colours as they please, like the Skull Squadron that belongs to the S.M.S. Frontier Fleet branch, many of the VF-25 have a green colouring, like the one in the picture on the right. A great number were deployed to the Macross Quarter, and after the Quarter withdrawals from the Frontier Fleet, they played an active role as the core of the mechanized forces. They continued to fight on the front lines until the final decisive battle.

Caption: VF-25A on standby in the hanger inside the Macross Quarter. In addition, gravity is retained within the hangar for such things as to make maintenance more user-friendly.

Left: The shape of the VF-25A's head is shared with the VF-25G. It also has one Laser Machine-gun, the same as the VF-25G.

Caption: The VF-25A's maintenance was hastened for the final decisive battle. Although it was a high-performance aircraft, it is assumed that they put out many losses in the battle with the Vajra that were under the control of the Galaxy Fleet.

Destroid Cheyenne II
The bombardment combat Destroid that's operated even by such organizations as the Unified Forces. In the performance aspects, the ones operated in S.M.S. are unchanged from the Unified Forces specification. On the Macross Quarter, they are deployed in gun platforms in various places on the deck, and shoulder the anti-aircraft defence role. In the Macross Attack -what one can also say is the Macross Quarter's special move-, Cheyenne II deploy from various places in the Quarter and simultaneously fire, after the ship plunges into the enemy's heart.

Caption: The appearance of the deck immediately after the Macross Quarter dared to use the Macross Attack on the Heavy Battleship Vajra. Cheyenne II appear from various parts, and fire all their weapons immediately after that.


Related Matter: [Plus] YF-19
As an aircraft developed by Shinsei Industry in the Super Nova Project in the 2040's, the YF-19 boasts acceleration and manoeuvrability performance that exceeds the limits of manned aircraft. For that reason, the VF-19A mass production model added a limiter function for the protection of the pilot in the Unified Air Combat Program. The VF-19EF/A when not equipped with Super Parts has the external appearance of the YF-19, like two peas in a pod.

Related Matter: VF-19 Boosters
Trans-atmospheric Boosters were prepared as additional equipment for the VF-19. This equipment consists of two large boosters on the fuselage, and armament containers attached to the bottom of the airframe, and they are confirmed to have bequeathed plenty of military gains in the Macross 7 Fleet when they were invested into the hostilities with the Protodevilun. However, at the time time in 2059, their engines' thrust aspect had already become old-fashioned, and it seems that their use on the VF-19EF/A was put off.
