Aircraft Explanation
A prototype based on the design data of the state-of-the-art YF-24 Evolution -that the New Unified Forces Headquarters developed-, developed in the Macross Frontier Fleet under the leadership of the L.A.I. Co.. Several aircraft were produced with the intention of testing the aircraft's transformation mechanism and performance, and doing control tests with the EX-Gear. Based on the data that was acquired in the testing of this aircraft, all kinds of problems were corrected, and the officially adopted VF-25 Messiah aircraft came to be produced.

Related Matter: The Dainamu Chogokin Transforming Toy
The major toy manufacturer Dainamu Chogokin sent out various transforming toys for the Variable Fighters that S.M.S. operated, and they flew off as smash hits. It's rumoured that such things as the aircraft's design data was probably furnished by the L.A.I. Co. as a part of the L.A.I. Co.'s image strategy, as Dainamu Chogokin's products reproductions attained
detailed colouring and details just like the real aircraft.

Up: Here is the VF-25Fm (Family Mart Ver.) product, which is a collaboration between Dainamu Chogokin and Family Mart, who achieved their one millionth store in the galaxy in 2059.
Fighter Mode
The cockpit takes the efficient collection of data in all sorts of tests into account, and is a two-seater type. As both of the two seats support the EX-Gear System, the instructors -who sit in the rear seat during training- are said to have favoured the point where the aircraft's balance could be suitably corrected. Pictured is the aircraft No.001, which is among the aircraft that participated in the test flights on Messiah 025.
Left: The colouring is flashy because it is a test aircraft. The New Unified Forces mark can also be seen on the tail.
GERWALK Mode
The installed EX-Gear System, which can apply the movements of the pilot's limbs to the motion of the aircraft, is considered to have contributed to smoothly balanced movement when doing hover movements in the GERWALK form. There aren't any places in particular in this aircraft's transformation mechanism that ought to be amended, and it was inherited as-is into the officially adopted VF-25.

Battroid Mode
The head of the YF-25 covers all sorts of sensors and cameras with a large clear shield so that it may record information from multiple directions, and the head also has a unique shape. The right side of the head is equipped with a communications antenna, and the left side is equipped with a small-bore laser machine-gun.
Right: The Battroid Mode. The two-seater cockpit is stowed inside the torso. Aside from the head and colouring, its exterior isn't different from the VF-25.
