Pg 02 Sheet 1 [Reverse]

All of the "Macross" series are completely covered!

The "realistic depiction of mechanicals"—represented by the Variable Fighters—the "love triangle" that unfolds between the protagonist and the heroines, and numerous songs that are charming to the point that they end wars with aliens. These are the 3 large components that the "Macross series" fascinates its fans with. Now, when we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the memoriable first production "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross", a complete data file that summarizes all of the "Macross" series comes to your side!

  • Sheryl Nome: illustrated by Hirotaka Marufuji / Supervised by Risa Ebata (Studio G-1 NEOI) / Colour coordinated by Kumiko Nakayama / Finished by Tomomi Murakami (Hiyori) / Digital effect by Naomi Takanashi
  • Production titles along the bottom:
  • Super Dimensional Fortress Macross
  • Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?

30 Years of the Progression of Macross is Collected Here!

⊘ Approaching the Launch of the "Macross Chronicle Revised Edition"

I blinked and it went from the 25th anniversary of the telecast of the "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" to the 30th anniversary. Looking back these past few years, it was with the support of many fans and staff that "Macross", together with "Macross F", galloped by. The basic structure of the story having not changed up until now, and the series continuing for 30 years are things that I couldn't image at the initial start of the "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross". When looking back, even though the many Macross series have inherited the structure of "love triangle", "song", and "fighting", I think that my image of the changes are a "helix" that's ascending a little bit at a time. Although there's a feeling of a great evolution by saying that Macross is galloping up a helix, when seen from the several hundred million year history of the Earth, 30 years is merely an instant. Even if the surface of the productions change, I feel that their fundamentals are universal. That is to say, a song stopping the fighting might be the power of the mythical structure that the Macross series has. This time, at the launch of this "Macross Chronicle" Revised Edition, I feel that you will be able to enjoy the concept of this book—that is to say, a "chronicle"—by compiling the Macross series up until "Theatrical Macross F" and "Macross FB7". In addition, if I dare say it, none of each of the TV series or theatrical versions that are from the concept of "Macross" are the official history of Macross. I think that you can enjoy Macross by comparing the different versions of the stories, and feeling the truth of the history of Macross in the differences between them. Although history is something that consists of the accumulation of facts, history is something whose form changes when handed down due to the interpretation of the people who experienced it. Various interpretations arise with the flow of the months and years, and many myths arise. As a result, would it not be a chronicle? History is always something of its era, and is something that is rewritten due to the differences in the speculation and information that the officials have. History might be told completely differently if the same fact is seen from a different angle. Nevertheless, among the fragments of several histories, a universal truth is etched. That message is probably in the great waves that undulate through those surface events. This "Macross Chronicle" is produced with the stance that it's a collection of records that bring together the interpretations by various personalities of the history that flows behind the Macross series. I hope that the readers will discover their own true "Macross" by using this book to take in the adventures that are among the 30 years of accumulated Macross history.
