The first generation model Macross ship and its successor ships, such as the Battle Class, have a mechanism that transforms them to a humanoid form, which is called the Storming Attack Form. In the SDF-1 Macross, even though the "transformation" was invented in order to complete the conduction system due to the loss of the Space Fold Mechanism, the Storming Attack form's close hand-to-hand combat abilities were valued, and the transformation mechanism came to be in the Battle Class and Macross Quarter Class.
