Caption: As the VF development history was rewritten by the VF-0, a discrepancy with the history of the Destroids in past documents has been identified. By the material disclosed hereafter, the possibility of a concealed history coming to light might be incontrovertible.

Destroid: The Redrawn History of the Destroids The Destroids, anti-alien humanoid weapons that appropriated OTM and were mainly developed by the Unified Ground Forces, had a late implementation even though their development started in the middle of the Unification War. One could say that the Destroids were not used for anti-Earthling uses. However, this seems to not have been true. According to recent material, the start of the development of the Destroids is the same as the Battroid (hereafter VF), in March, 2003. Development on the Destroids was started by the United Nations as an anti-alien humanoid weapon. Naturally you may think that the period in which the decision to and start of research on a standard format that appropriates OTM in an anti-giant alien humanoid weapon doesn't necessarily contradict the old theory on the development of the Destroids. However, it definitely differs from the old theory in the period in which the Destroids were invested into combat. According to the new theory, the first Destroid was completed in December, 2000, and it was invested into combat in August, 2001, having been placed into the initial stages of the Unification War. Naturally, the target of its attacks were Earthlings, and it is here that the difference with the old theory on the history of the Destroids having not been used against Earthlings is seen. The history has been rewritten. The changes aren't limited to only the placement of the Destroids into combat in the Unification War. A representative example is the deployment of the ADR-03 Mk III Destroid Cheyenne into the "Bird Man Incident", which suddenly occurred in July, 2008. At the time of the incident, the ADR-03 Mk III Destroid Cheyenne was the only mass produced Destroid, as a trial model of the 03 series Destroids. At this time, they clashed with mutual armaments from the same arms category, as the Anti Unification Alliance also used the amphibious combat weapon Octos, which corresponds to a Destroid. As the Unified Forces experimental VF-0 and the Anti Unification Alliance's Sv-51's fierce battle unfolded, the Destroids also continued to be refined through trial and error in the midst of the Unification War. In the end, the 04 series was realized when they carried out the installation of a small thermonuclear reactor in a bipedal walking system that had improved reliability. The 04 series are highly manoeuvrable platforms that corresponded to each kind of armament. Thus, the Destroids' operational ranges spread out to such things as the internal defence of emigration fleet ships, combat inside City Ship, and so on.

Related Matter: the Anti Unification Alliance "Destroid"
The Ant Unification Alliance also developed weapons corresponding to the Destroids, represented by the Octos. In addition to the Octos, it's said that the Anti Unification Alliance developed the 80 cm cannon equipped "Gustof", which boasted a 1,250 t operational weight, and it's sister craft, "Dora". Both of these weapons corresponded with the Destroids.

Caption: The performance of the Anti Unification Alliance's craft was at the level of the best of the Unified Force's Destroids, and in the Unification War, they brought up more than a few fruits of battle.

Right: Octos
The Octos possesses the feature where it can transform to submersible form. It's been said that the Unified Forces also produced the Octos after the Unification War.

Destroid Development Genealogy
The Unified Forces Destroids passed through Types 01 to 03 as experimental models, and developed the Type 04 series craft, represented by the Tomahawk. Although the division in specification, such as the fighting use MBR, anti-air use ADR and so on, seems to have been decided at the initial stage of Destroid research, after the Mankind Seeding Plan started, multipurpose models stand out, such as the Cheyenne II.

Spaceship Operations
Even though the Destroids were designed as AFV ground warfare armaments, they came to be able to be operated even on space ships, due to such things as being put into combat aboard the SDF-1 Macross (which consisted of space combat) and sailing in the Space Emigrant Fleets that accompanied the Mankind Seeding Plan. Their main duties were shipboard defence and within ship combat that had the objective of destroying the enemy craft that penetrated inside, as the Destroids don't have space mobility like a VF.

1: Shipboard Anti Air Defence
In an anti aircraft attack from the shipboard craft due to such the ADR model Destroids, such as the Cheyenne series and the Defender, the approaching highly mobile targets, such as hostile VFs and enemy Battle Pods, are obstructed. As the Cheyenne II and SDR model Phalanx have space mobility functions, they are able to leave the ship and carry out the anti air defence.

2: Shipboard Combat Shipboard combat that targets the enemy craft that have landed on the deck. Although it is a mission appropriate to the MBR types, represented by the Tomahawk, the ADR types can also respond to enemy craft landing on the deck by switching targets from anti aircraft defence. The Destroids were not always advantageous to ship defence as there were many cases where the enemy craft that struggled onto the ship had superior manoeuvrability.

3: Shipboard Anti-ship Attack
Due to the long-range and large firepower of the HWR type Destroids, the Destroids could be used for shipboard anti-ship attacks. It's said that the Monster has megaton class reaction weapons prepared for it, and among the duties that the Monster is suitable for, it was even able to sink Zentraadi warships (from the beginning, the Monster had difficulty capturing highly manoeuvrable targets). One could say that the Monster was operated as a portable gun battery.

4: Combat Inside the Ship
In a city-ship scale large-ship, there are cases where enemy craft have penetrated inside. To deal with this, primarily such Destroids as the MBR and ADR types are committed to the within-ship combat. The Destroids that were on standby inside a ship might also deal with an emergency evacuation, and one could say that they had the duty of filling in until VFs came to assist.
