Related Matter: The Zentraadi Beam Weapons
The mobile weapons of the Zentraadi, such as the battle pods, heavily use beam weapons. It is conceivable that the reason is that there are problems in such things as the space for loading physical bullets.

Right: Nuujaderu Gaa
With the exception of hand grenades, it's equipped only with beam weapons. It's assumed that that is because it has insufficient space for loading bullets within the airframe.

Caption: The general Rigaado battle pod is also normally equipped with only charged particle beam guns and laser machine-guns.

Caption: Special beam weapons, such as impact cannons and fluid plasma cannons, were also used by the Zentraadi.

The Diffusion and Disadvantages of Beam Weapons
(...)

Caption: The Space Fighter SF-3A Lancer II, which was active in the First Interstellar War, was equipped with two charged particle beam guns. It is an example of the spread of beam armaments.

Caption: The VF-25 Messiah has excellent beam resistant abilities, as it's equipped with Anti Optical Weapon Vapourization Armour and Anti Optical Weapon Smoke.

Extra Report: The Alien Creatures who Have Beam Weapons
In spite of being living creatures, there were also some with beam weapons that existed among the various alien creatures that were encountered by the human race, who had expanded into space due to the "Mankind Sowing Project". In fact, the Protodevilun and Vajra had beam weapon powers that also surpassed that of the main gun of a Macross warship.

Down: Vajra
The alien creatures had a biological beam weapon which became the root of the heavy quantum reaction beam guns. The dorsal organ is the beam gun.

Caption: The beam guns of the large individuals, such as the Queen and Knight classes, could destroy a space warship in a single attack.

Caption: The penta-kuru beam of the Protodevilun Gurabiru demonstrated a power that far exceeded that of the main gun of a battleship.

Caption: The Protodevilun fired absorption beams in order to acquire spiritia, which was necessary for their activities.
