Caption: Dimension Eaters are the latest armaments among the ones that use heavy quantum. Although they have a destructive power that is more than equal to reaction weapons, they have the problem of the scare fold quartz material being essential for their production.

Dimension Weapons:
The strongest armament group, which used heavy quantum.
The armament group that uses heavy quantum reactions, such as Dimension Eaters (henceforth DE), Micro Dimension Eaters (henceforth MDE), and Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns, are generically called "Dimension Weapons" in this text (its possible to accurately say that Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns are the founding Dimension Weapons).
Among the Dimension Weapons, the Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns (Heavy Quantum Reaction Beam Guns) have an extremely old history. The Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns are the biological beam guns that the alien Vajra creatures have, that the Protoculture analyzed, implemented, and used mainly as beam guns carried aboard ships. In addition to being used as the main guns of such things as the Zentraadi Noputi Baganisu Class battleship, the Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns were also transmitted to Earth in the form of the main gun of the ASS-1 = SDF-1 Macross, and they were also built into such ships as the successor of the Macross, the Battle Class Variable Stealth Attack Space Carrier, and the Macross Quarter Class Multipurpose Stealth Space Manoeuvrable Fighting Carrier. As understood from their adoption as the main guns of the large battleships, they possess tremendous power and long range, and hardly anything exists that can withstand a direct hit from them.
The DE, which was implemented in the 2050's, while developing the heavy quantum reaction that is the mechanism of the Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns, are firearms that can be described as "Black Hole Bombs", as weapons of mass destruction that use the large mass of "Super" Heavy Quantum. These are bomb-style weapons, and they have advantages, such as comparatively easy operability and suppression of collateral damage. As a battleship class large-scale platform is necessary for them, they are considered to have a point that even surpasses that of the Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns, which only range over straight-line attacks.
MDE are a combination of DE and conventional weapons, miniaturized until a VF can be equipped with them. Even though their destructive power is inferior because their sizes are smaller than DE, they feature points that surpass DE in the aspects of pinpoint attacks, multi-purposefulness, and operability.
However, their mass production is difficult as the rare Fold Quartz material is necessary for the production of DE and MDE.

Related Matter: "Reaction Weapons" Which Used Heavy Quantum
Reaction weapons, which are weapons of mass destruction that rival the DE, also use heavy quantum. The point that uses the hydrogen nuclear reaction is the same as conventional large-area destruction weapons, and as reaction weapons only use Heavy Quantum as the triggering explosive, they aren't classified as Dimension Weapons.

The Operation And Restrictions Of Dimension Weapons
Its thought that the first combat that used an especially large quantity of MDE Dimension Weapons was the large-scale battle of 2059 between the Macross Frontier Fleet and the Vajra (the Macross Galaxy Fleet). In this battle, the tremendous pressure of Dimension Weapons was displayed, as the VF squadrons of the New Unified Forces, who escorted the fleet, and the civilian military provider S.M.S. were equipped with MDE - in order to oppose the Vajra, who had acquired a resistance to reaction weapons -, and used them to crush the Vajra.
Due to their power, usage restrictions similar to those for reaction weapons were established for Dimension Weapons - especially DE and MDE -, by the New Unified Government. Also, severe restrictions were imposed on the harvesting, distribution, and possession of fold quartz, which was indispensable for the production of Dimension Weapons.

Caption: Although the power itself of the Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun was great, its usage restrictions weren't severe, as it appears to have been treated merely as a large output beam gun.

Caption: The ownership of the Super Fold Booster was recognized to be by some of the businesses, such as the L.A.I. Co., as Fold Quartz was essential to its development.

Extra Report: Biological Weapons That Resemble Dimension Weapons
Biological Armaments also existed that had characteristics that resembled DE and MDE, and looked like their Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns were based on the Vajra's biological beam guns. The special characteristics and destructive power of those weapons, which some of the Protodevilun had, could be said to have surpassed that of the weapons of the Protoculture and Earth's mankind.

The hand-to-hand combat model Protodevilun. Accompanying the enlargement of his ability to deflect gravitational fields, he generated a pseudo black hole that resembled a DE.

The heavy combat model Protodevilun. Its Pentacle Beam Gun demonstrated power that greatly exceeded even a Macross Cannon.

What Is Heavy Quantum?
The substance that is the core of Dimension Weapons is heavy quantum. Heavy quantum has an extremely large mass as a special quantum that is generated by fold devices and Over Technology reactors, and it has a property where more than 99% of its mass is deposited in fold space. As heavy quantum has an over-sized mass, it immediately crushes three dimensional space [when its mass is returned to it]. At this time, a part of the mass is converted and generates a huge amount of thermal energy.
The heavy quantum that is used in DE and MDE has an especially large mass, and becomes "Super" Heavy Quantum.

Caption: Fold Carbon and Fold Quartz are indispensable to the generation of heavy quantum as the parts that become the center of the fold mechanism.

Caption: Besides firearms, heavy quantum is also connected to such things as fold navigation, and is said to be the core of Protoculture technology.

The Group Of Armaments That Use Heavy Quantum
Heavy Quantum Reaction Guns
The stability of the fold space in heavy quantum is lost when one excites heavy quantum by accelerating it in a constant direction with a particular resonance fold pattern. In this case, the mass that was deposited in fold space returns to three-dimensional space, and it is launched as a powerful nuclear fusion plasma beam. This is the Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun.

Caption: The Macross Quarter Class, which appears to have the smallest type Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun, can defeat the Knight Class Vajra (the Vajra Carrier) with a single blow.

Up: The Gunship is the Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun of the Battle Class. It differs from the first generation Macross ship, and can be used separately from the Battle Class.

Caption: Several hundred thousand Zentraadi warships were destroyed by the Grand Cannon, the largest class of Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun, which extended 6-10 km underground.

Dimension Eaters
Armaments that react the heavy quantum of the "Super" Heavy Quantum, and generate pseudo black holes. After the pseudo black hole is generated, it transitions to the Fold Space side in a short time, and is annihilated. In this case, space and all are captured in a super gravitational field within the effective range, and is transitioned to fold space. Even though the structure of the DE itself is simple, it isn't suitable for mass production as the essential fold mechanism uses the scarce Fold Quartz material to create the "Super" Heavy Quantum.

Caption: The effective range is freely configurable due to the amount of heavy quantum. It's possible to obtain an extremely vast attack radius, that's greater than an ordinary reaction weapon.

Caption: The space where the spherical shaped pseudo black hole unfolds in is annihilated. The planet Gaul 4 was damaged by one to the degree that the shape of the stellar body was changed.

Right: A DE produced by the L.A.I. Co.. Its total height is 3-4 m. It's a simple structure that combines a resonance fold pulse generator in a heavy quantum storage chamber.

Micro-Dimension Eaters
Miniaturized weapons that combine DE and conventional weapons so that even VFs and so on can use them. Various types exist, from DE included into warheads for missiles, to beam guns that rapidly-fire micro black holes like a pulse. Minute particles of Fold Quartz that were obtained from Vajra remains were used in the MDE warheads for the micro-missiles that the Frontier Fleet used.

Caption: Although MDE also has an extremely small effective range, they have the use of transitioning materials to fold space.

Up: The BGP-01β for the VF-27. Even though it was a normal beam gun pod at first, it was subsequently remodelled into an MDE beam gun (with a Heavy Quantum Reaction Gun).
