#36 The Macross Levitates (Plus)
While the friendship between Isamu and Guld, which was broken off seven years ago, was finally restored, the chaos of Macross City kept expanding. The artificial intelligence Sharon Apple, who had acquired a self-awareness, finally seized the Macross itself.

Isamu and Guld battle the unmanned Ghost X-9 fighter.
Guld makes Isamu go to rescue Myung.
Isamu heads toward Macross City.

Myung escapes from Sharon's restraints. In order to stop Sharon, Myung heads toward the real body of the artificial intelligence.

2040:
The Macross levitates.

Related Matter: Levitating After 30 Years
The Macross's levitation was the first time it had done that in roughly 30 years, since the Macross City Defensive Battle that occurred in 2011 due to [the actions of] Kamujin. The Macross at the time in 2011 existed like a monument of the New Unified Government, and only a few members of the New Unified Government's staff knew that the Macross could levitate. However, the damage incurred in battle was restored by 2040. In addition, the equipment and armaments within the ship were also restored, and it appears that the original functions of the Macross were also restored.

2040:
Guld releases the YF-21's limiter. He dares to ram the Ghost X-9, and defeats it. Guld dies.

2040:
Even though Isamu began to fall under Sharon's brainwave control, he revived. Isamu successfully destroyed the center of the Macross Information Net.
The real body of Sharon's artificial intelligence is destroyed.
The "Sharon Apple Insident*" ends.

Related Matter: The YF-21's Limiter
In contrast to the great majority of Variable Fighters that have the main thrusters built into the legs, the main thrusters of the YF-21 are installed in the back. In short, the legs are dead weight in the YF-21's Fighter form. When battling the Ghost X-9, Guld released the YF-21's maximum thrust limitation and simultaneously lightened the fuselage by purging the arms and legs, and is considered to have drawn out acceleration performance that rivalled that of the unmanned fighter.

Caption: The acceleration ability after purging was tremendous, to the degree that the outside of the armour melted from atmospheric friction.

Caption: The YF-21, which had defeated the Ghost X-9, reached satellite orbit over Earth as-is with the retained acceleration.
