Caption: Emigrant Fleets continue to voyage in search of a planet that its emigrants can reside on. A City Ship is the main ship, and even though it's small scale, one world is made from the travelling companions formed from specialized ships, which have the functions needed for the human race to live, and escorting battleships.

Super Long-Range Emigrant Fleets
A Part Of The Mankind Seeding Project, Which Searches In The Galaxy For New Worlds.

It is the second Age Of Exploration that visited the human race - this Age Of Galactic Exploration was staged in the sea of stars.
The people of Earth, who have passed through the First Interstellar War and were dealing with materials shortages and an increase in population, venture into the development of the Galaxy, which, above all else, offers the continued existence of the species. This plan is advanced so quickly that people are surprised. Human beings have acquired spacecraft construction technology from Over Technology (hereafter OTM), which the ASS-1, a crashed Inspection Forces ship*, had already brought. In addition, the Megaroad Class shipbuilding speed was improved, and by obtaining Zentraadi Automated Factory Satellites, they were constantly mass-produced. In addition, an awareness of the civilians and the town that accompanied them, with happiness or unhappiness, within the SDF-1 Macross gArkh, on a space voyage that was gjust a few monthsh remained in mankind's mental part - which could leave its birthplace, Earth - an awareness that might have supported the era of space emigration.
Mankind's wish was to take on the emigration plan. Inevitably, there were problems. Until the know-how to run a migrating emigrant ship was established, partly-compulsory selected personnel, whose bodies and minds could endure long-term voyages, were provided the necessary skills and sent out as emigrants. Also, in the early stages of the plan, it's said that clones of competent personnel were appointed to positions of trust as instruction staff. However, after the outbreak of hereditary diseases and so on due to cloning, which was becoming very serious, the cloning plan was frozen.
Although the emigrant plan was initially led by the Unified Government, as a result of the development of emigrant ships, the stability of the situation on Earth, and such things as survey reports by advance teams, a variety of state and private enterprises became sponsors of many emigrant fleets that started on journeys in the Galaxy, which holds infinite possibility. Thus, it was a natural flow that mankind rushed into the Age Of Galactic Exploration. In addition, from this point onwards, mankind sought even more new worlds. It was similar to the Protodevilun, who had travelled from another universe...

* Translator's note: originally: "crashed Zentraadi ship", which was later indicated as an error in the original edition.

Related Matter: The First Interstellar War
The encounter between Earth's mankind and the Zentraadi caused the interstellar war referred to as the First Interstellar War. That war was brought to an end by the singing voice of one singer, Lynn Minmei. Although mankind was brought to the verge of destruction, it obtained a new partner, called Zentraadi.

Right: The Zentraadi
The Zentraadi, whose height is no less than 10 m, are seen by Earth's mankind as giants. They were living weapons that were made by the Protoculture, and they only fought. However, by coming into contact with "culture", with songs first on the list at the time of the First Interstellar War, they chose the path where they walked together with mankind.

The Mankind Seeding Project
The Mankind Seeding Plan is carried out by two emigration methods: Super Long Range Emigration, and Close Range Emigration. It is an indispensable plan to carry out the recovery of mankind, along with the homeworld, as both of those seeds received serious damage in the First Interstellar War.
In actuality, the two kinds of emigration are carried out in parallel. With the large scale Super Long Range Emigration, mankind is dispersing to the whole area of the galaxy for the sake of reducing the risk of the species becoming extinct, while small scale Close Range Emigration is to cope with the rise in the Earth's population, material shortages, and so on, which will certainly happen in the immediate future.

Caption: The planet Eden. It was the first inhabitable planet discovered after the seeding plan had started. In addition, there's also a rumour that Kim Kabirov, who acted as a bridge operator on that SDF-1, was living on Eden.*

Emigration Fleets
In addition to the premise of a long term voyaging city ship, other simple emigrant ships also existed, such as refurbished transport ships. In addition, the City Ship design is quite varied, according to the fleet's touted course. There are dome shapes, sealed colony form shapes, and so on. In addition, in the early stages, not only the Megaroad class, but also the Macross class, equipped with habitation space, sailed ahead as Survey Emigrant Ships.

Caption: The fleet consists of ships with various functions. Inside the fleet there was also facilities for the emigrant crew to endure the long-term voyage - ships that specialized in so-called entertainment facilities, also accompanied the fleet.

Related Matter: Close-Range Emigrant Fleets
Light emigrant ships did the footwork, with the purpose of searching within 100 light years of the Solar system. From a half-year delay after the launch of Megaroad 01, the first Super Long-Range Emigration Fleet, they increasingly began journeys. One of them discovered an inhabitable Planet, Eden, in the Groombridge star system, 11.7 light years from the Solar system.

Super Long-Range Emigrant Ship Types And Fleet Composition
Macross Class

A Survey Emigrant Ship, which had a simple residential space set-up inside of a mass-produced SDF-1. They preceded the Megaroad-01, which was the first formation of the Super Long-Range Emigrant Fleets, in order to survey the route, ensure safety, and so on. Several set sail, serving as the leaders for the benefit of the following Emigrant Ships.

Caption: Although the SDF-1 Macross's accommodation space was the accidental product of the huge hull, it had a big influence on the next Emigrant Ship's design.

Right: SDF-1 Macross
The repaired ASS-1 battleship. The full length is about 1,200 m, and it is also the first spaceship to pick up the average citizen and sail the universe. Several Emigrant Ships based on this ship were mass-produced and set sail.

Megaroad Class
The initial Emigrant Ship, which is a super long range emigration re-design of the Macross Class. A ship with thousands, to tens of thousands of crew members, acts as the main ship in an escort fleet composed of Zentraadi warships, space-fold navigation enabled ARMD class ships, Space Destroyer class ships, supply ships and so forth.

Caption: The Megaroad-01, a residential warship, is the flagship of the first Emigrant Fleet. After it, one or two Megaroad Class ships were built every year, and set sail one after another.

Right: Megaroad-01
The first legitimate Emigrant Ship was a re-design of the SDF-2, whose construction was advancing in Apollo Base on the Moon's surface. Its overall length is about 1,770 m.*

Translator's note: originally was "It's overall length is about 1,600 m".

New Macross Class
A dome-type city ship. The fleet is composed of ships with functions other than habitation, such as a factory ship and an amusement ship. It has a capacity which can cope with a growth in population up to a maximum of 1 million people. Incidentally, the overall population of Macross 7 is about 350,000 people.

Caption: The City Ship and the accompanying companion ships, which are furnished with various functions, are connected with a transportation network in outer space.

Right: Macross 7 The 7th New Macross Class ship has an overall length of about 7,770 m. Pictured is the Battle 7 Battleship docked with the City 7 City Ship.

Island Cluster Class
The fifth generation model Gigantic Emigrant Fleet, which can circulate all of the resources within the entire fleet using a bio-plant. Quite a few Environment Ships dock to the City Ship and accompany it. The exterior is similar to the New Macross Class, however the fleet, in its entirety, boasts a population of 10 million people.

Caption: The mothership has multiple faculties on its own, such as industrial blocks, which are set in the lower layers of the ship.

Right: Island 1
Island 1 is the Macross Frontier Fleet's City Ship, and its overall length largely exceeds that of the New Macross class. Pictured is the City Ship as seen from above.
