Planet Eden: the Planet Discovered by a Short-Range Emigrant Ship where the Sauro-Birds Flutter About
In January, 2012, mankind, who suffered damage to both the species and its home-world in the First Interstellar War, announced the Mankind Sowing Plan, which had the objective of searching for and migrating to emigrant planets. In September of the same year, the First Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet, and from April of the following year, Short Range Emigrant Fleets began departing one after another. A planet to which immigration was possible was discovered ten-odd light years from the Solar System in the Groomsbridge Star System. It was named "Eden", which means paradise, and immigration began.
Eden's development advanced while groping for the harmony of nature and civilization. The central city, Capital City, was constructed in a gulf coast area with a commanding view of a large waterfall that flows down from a lake. The designs of the main buildings recall those of the former Earth's cultures. According to elderly Earthlings, the scenery that those buildings are included in has an appearance that "is reminiscent of Niagara Falls" and "gives the impression of San Francisco". One could say that the scenery is something that provides a complete surprise like having time travelled to the olden days of Earth. While development for that type of immigrant proceeded, a flight centre directly controlled by the armed forces was established in 2020, and Eden became an important location for the Unified Forces. Although a competition was carried out by the prototype YF-19 and YF-21 next All-Regime Variable Fighters at the flight centre in 2040, when the "Runaway Macross Incident" occurred on Earth in Macross City, both craft could be seen actively preventing that rampage. As a result, Eden became not only mankind's first residence, but was a place that was engraved in mankind's memory as the planet that dispatched the famous craft that saved the home-world from a crisis.

The human race, which was sown separately in the Galaxy due to the Short Range and Super Long Range Emigration Project, encountered new creatures on the planets they went to and attempted to coexist with them as much as possible. It's possible to say that Eden, which was encountered in the early stage, was the planet that took the lead in those attempts at coexistence. It's thought that there wasn't evidence that the indigenous species that mankind hadn't touched had fallen into a critical situation, such as the Giant Sauro-bird and the flying apple tree that bore apple-like fruits on Eden, and close attention was paid to the development of the planet.

Caption: From the earliest, Eden started emigration as a colony planet. Emigration and the development of urban areas promptly advanced. On the other hand, a lot of nature still remained untouched, such as forests and deserts.
Caption: From the start of immigration to the planet Eden, close to 30 years time has passed, and the native Sauro-bird species is still going strong. Even after emigration started, people would say that there is evidence that the emigrants have endeavoured to coexist with the nature and creatures of the planet.
Planetary Development and Advancement
While attempting to coexist with the original nature and indigenous species, Eden's development was advanced as a colony planet of the Earth. While architectural structures of former Earth styles were constructed centring on the Capital City, a lot of almost completely untouched nature was also saved. When compared to the cities of the same era that frequently used the latest technology, such as Macross City, Capital City has an image of "the former Earth", were the intentions that advanced the development of the planet were seen. In addition, while Eden accomplished development as a colony planet, it came to bear a key military role, as a Unified Forces base was established near the urban areas on the planet. Later on, the Test Flight Centre in the base became the stage of the "Super Nova Project", the Unified Forces next all-regime Variable Fighter development project.
Caption: The Capital City has an atmosphere that resembles that of San Francisco on the former Earth. The buildings line up in rows leaves a scent of the former Earth's culture, and Capital City seems to have been a city where nostalgic feelings were given to tourists from Earth.
Caption: A Unified Forces Space Base was established at the end of the freeway that stretches from the Southwest of Capital City. It was a key location for the Unified Forces, as such things as state-of-the-art aircraft experiments were carried out at it.
Planet Eden's Native Species and the Classification of Sauro-Birds
Gigantic Sauro-Bird
A carnivorous creature that reaches a wingspread of 20 m or more and lives mainly in the woodlands. It is the largest species among the Sauro-Birds (Dino-Birds), and although it is the symbol of Eden, because they have vast territories, they are rarely noticed by the public. Although the Gigantic Sauro-Bird's disposition is by and large gentle, it's important to be careful when encountering them when they're irritable in breeding season, as several times people have been injured by them.
Small Sauro-Bird
The 20 to 30 cm long Small Sauro-Bird. It has a characteristically large beak and crest. Also referred to as the "Hand Riding Sauro-Bird", it's cute appearance seems to also have been popular with tourists. It's habits closely resemble those of birds, and it isn't particularly cautious with humans. They also frequently appear at the popular "Star Hill" viewing platform, which is visited by both tourists and locals.
Caption: A Small Sauro-Bird rests its wings on the fence around the viewing platform on "Star Hill". Although it is likely to run away when one tries to touch it, as one would expect because it is a wild animal, they can also be seen forming flocks near tourists.
Dashing Sauro-Bird
The Dashing Sauro-Bird has a characteristic mane and long tail, and moves by dashing on land. It's size isn't very different from that of a horse, and it seems to have been possible to put a saddle and reigns on it and ride it.
Edible Sauro-Bird
The cow-like bodied Sauro-Bird. Its one size larger than the typical beef cow. Such things as "Sauro-Bird Steak Vacuum Packs" are sold as souvenirs aimed at tourists.
