Vajra
Fold Quartz And The Vajra's Network

As understood from being referred to as "a network creature due to fold waves", the Vajra are creatures that can send and receive Fold Waves and "Zero Time Fold Waves", which aren't influenced by Fold Faults. With the connecting of each individual by the Zero Time Fold wave, the entire group forms the network, and the point that they are a colony creature that shares a purpose (the entire group has one purpose) can be said to be the Vajra's greatest feature.
The Vajra's ability to form the network by means of Zero Time Fold Waves is a result of each individual having Fold Quartz that's proportionate to high purity Fold Crystals (more accurately, the Fold Network is formed by the Vajra Bacterium, which is an intestinal bacteria that has Fold Quartz). Fold Quartz all but doesn't exist in the natural world, and only the core Vajra individual, which is called the Vajra Queen, can create it. Even though the mechanism that gives the Fold Quartz to the general Vajra is unknown, considering from such facts as the Knight Class Carrier Vajra having a huge Fold Reactor and refined Fold Quartz crystals being collected from the remains of the lowest level of Vajra, Fold Quartz is certainly given to all Vajra. As a result of the Vajra having the rare Fold Quartz material in this way, it's possible to say that the Vajra have an exceedingly important existence for the human race.

Caption: The Vajra have diverse forms to the extent that they don't even seem to be the same species. Even though the Queen Class individual is the core, they are a social animal that is formed by concurrency via the Fold Communications Network. Although it's possible to say that the Vajra are a "perfect creature", their mode of life is hardly understood, and the results of research on the Vajra is waited for.

Related Matter: Alien Creatures Other Than The Vajra
In the midst of making progress in the Mankind Seeding Project, the human race encountered a great number of alien creatures. Even though many were on the side that resembled Earth's creatures, among them also exist creatures that have the ability to take action without regard to being inside or outside of an atmosphere, like the Vajra, and the Protoculture's biological weapons, like the Protodevilun.

Left: [D7] Galactic Whales
A gigantic creature that moves in space in a group. They also have a Space Fold capability similar to the Vajra.

Caption: [Plus] On Eden, the first Emigrant Planet, a lot of unique, primitive creatures were seen, such as the Saurobird and the Hydra.

Caption: [7] The Protodevilun are energy lifeforms that possessed the Protocultures' living body weapons.

Vajra And Fold Crystals
In addition to Zero Time Fold Communication, the Vajra's possession of Fold Quartz is evident from the Carrier Vajra, centred on the Bishop and Knight Classes, performing space folds that disregard Fold Faults. However, Fold Quartz isn't used for all of the Vajra's characteristic abilities, which are said to be bio-firearms, Space Folds, and propulsion by gravity control.
The Vajra synthesize Fold Crystals with the help of intestinal bacterium (the Vajra Bacterium). However, the material that the typical Vajra synthesize, what is called Fold Carbon or Fold Coal, doesn't oscillate with Zero Time Fold Waves. That material is the same as the central parts of a typical Space Fold Device, and is able to attain enough output for such things as the use of beam armaments and Energy Conversion Armour, or common Space Fold Navigation.

Caption: It can be assessed that Fold Quartz is necessary for such things as the generation of Fault Folds, Super Fault Folds, and so on.

Caption: The Carrier Vajra's Fold Reactor seems to also combine with a logic element for central control.

Related Matter: The Songs Of The Vajra
The Vajra, who are considered to share one intention as a group, have a thinking form that completely differs from mankind, who have intentions that differ in each individual. As the method of conversation is also different, it's difficult for Vajra and humans to understand each other. However, V-type Infectious Disease patients, who have contracted the Vajra Bacterium disease, have the possibility of being able to communicate with the Vajra, as they reach a point where Fold Waves are included in their voices (especially in songs).

Left: Ranka Lee
A girl who was infected by the V-type Infectious Disease from her mother's body. The Vajra Bacterium established themselves inside her intestines, and she was able to intervene in the Vajra Network with songs.

Caption: The Vajra use a "courting song" in order to mate [cross-fertilize] with Vajra from other galaxies.

The Vajra's Network
The Vajra form an intelligent circuit due to a Zero Time Fold Network, and they concurrently share their intention at the group level. Even though the Vajra Queen, as the group's core, becomes a Fold Quartz generating plant, she doesn't rule the group, and is presumed only to act according to the common intention of the group.

Caption: The Vajra Network that the Macross Galaxy Fleet planned to take over is a network that's at the level of the entire galaxy. In addition, there is hardly any time lag within that network.

The Vajra's Origin And Growth Process
The chart below is a diagram of the process of the Vajra's growth to adulthood. Basically, the Queen Vajra and Semi-Queen produce eggs, and the Vajra repeatedly molt as they grow to adulthood. However, this can be confirmed only up to the Second Form. It is presumed that the individuals that are given a special hormone during growth grow to unique individuals, such as the Vajra Carrier.

"Egg Laying"
The Queen Class Vajra produce eggs. Eggs are laid in nests and places that conform to nests.

"Hatching"
After egg laying, the eggs pass through a fixed period hatch. The time, conditions of hatching, and so on are unknown.

"Vajra (Larva)"
A Vajra that's just hatched. They don't have any fighting abilities, and they have an appearance that differs from the ones that have grown to adulthood.

"Vajra (Larva)"
The legs begin to grow in the body accompanying the growth to adulthood. It's unconfirmed if they become pupa after this stage.

"Pupa"
In order to become the Second Form of the larva, the Vajra passes through a pupa stage. Ai-kun, who was kept by Ranka Lee, didn't become a pupa, and directly changed into the Second Form.

"The Vajra's Second Form"
A Vajra's state when it has just freed itself from the pupa. Its outward appearance as well as its size has greatly changed from what it has been up until now.

"The Vajra's Second Form"
Accompanying the growth to adulthood, the Vajra that molt also increase in size. Although the basic shape is the same as the Second Form immediately following molting, the details differ.

"Small Vajra, etc."
It's thought that the Vajra continue to grow even more after the Second Form.

Types Of Vajra
Even though the Vajra are a group that shares one purpose, each individual has a role, and such things as their abilities and shape differ according to the individual. The types are roughly divided into three known types: the Queen type that's the group's core, the carrier types that exists as mother ships, and the combat types that shoulder the burdens of Fold Ore collection and combat.

Caption: There is only one queen in a swarm, and the most numerous in number are the combat types. The carrier type exist as the mother ships of the typical individuals, and they are comparatively few in number.

Grey line: Fold Network

Right: Queen Vajra
The several tens to hundreds of kilometres long Queen Vajra is the maximum sized Vajra. It builds its nest on an Earth-like planet and plays a central role in the group's network.

Down: Vajra Carrier (Large)
The type that is called the Bishop Class is larger than the general Vajra Carrier. It is also the nest of the Semi-Queen.

Up: Semi-Queen
The queen of a group that's a separate nest of Vajra. It is also able to leave the nesting planet, and has abilities close to those of the Queen Vajra.

Left: Vajra Carrier (Small)
The type of Vajra that's made to protect such things as nests that are in the middle of migrating and nests that stationary. It is a large individual that's called the Knight Class.

Right: Large Vajra
The standard fighting Vajra has a total front to rear length of 30 m. It has such things as a bio-beam gun and Energy Conversion Armour.

Left: Small Vajra
The small type is the lowest fighting Vajra. Even though it is small, it has a fighting ability that surpasses that of the main VF of the New Unified Forces.
