Caption: The basic squadron units that VFs are operated in are VF platoons (composed of about 3 to 4 planes), VF companies, and VF battalions. Even among those there are VF units that ace pilots are attached to, for example Major Roy Fokker, and they left behind great military gains in the wars and disputes of each age.

Related Matter: Special VF Units
Among the VF units, there are also ones that have been specially organized. Many of them are "Special Forces" that aren't affiliated with the typical chain of command.

Max and Miria
An independent commando-like unit formed from 2 craft that appeared to be attached to the Macross.

Caption: Formed from 2 VF-1J, Max's craft is painted blue and Miria's craft is painted red. Both of them are top aces.

Jamming Birds
A Macross 7 Fleet VF unit that was formed through Sound Force with the intention of putting music to military uses.

Caption: The singer rides in the rear seat of a two-seater VF-11D that's loaded with Sound Boosters. The Jamming Birds had insufficient ability against the opposing Varohta Forces.

The Well-known VF Units of Each Age
Introduced here are the especially famous VF units among those units that were active in wars and disputes from 2008 to 2059. Even excluding these units, VF squadrons such as Brown, Green and Windsor, which belonged to the Macross, and the Anti Unification VF units, which were in the Unification War, also exist.
