Type 99 space fighter attack craft (Cosmo Falcon)
A fighter/attack craft that was successfully developed and mass produced by the U.N. Ground Forces, the Far East District Space Combat Group, and the Space Technologies. Although the aircraft was developed as an absolutely local fighter for defending a defensive area on the Earth, due to the planning of the 'Yamato Plan', it was adopted as a shipboard craft for the U.N. Space Navy.
With the composite radial flow style Cosmo Engine "Meteor 35 Type" built-in, it is able to conduct operations both inside and outside of an atmosphere. Two-dimensional [thrust vectoring] nozzles are built into the main jet-engine nozzles, and hovering is also possible when they are used together. The Cosmo Falcon makes the best use of stealthiness, and 8 air-to-air missiles are stored in the weapon bays that are installed in the underside of the fuselage. Besides that, all sorts of armaments can be loaded onto the main wing hard-points.
The main armaments are 2 machine-guns in the underside of the nose, and 6 auto-cannons that are built into the front of the wing roots.
The Cosmo Falcon was adopted in 2199, and although it was already put into practical use and deployed in air defence missions on the Moon's surface and above the Earth, it was diverted from the above ground forces due to the delay in the mass production of the Cosmo Zero, and 2 air squadrons were loaded aboard the Yamato.
