Others
In addition to Blocks 1-17, VF-1 that were built in the factory plants in the Emigrant Fleets (including the VF-1 that were built from now on) exist. They were each given production numbers on the airframe from the Emigrant Fleet of their birth, and are distinct from the Block production aircraft.

VF-1D
The head unit in the 2-seater training aircraft -that's used in model conversion training- is equipped with 2 monitor cameras.
Among these 2 cameras, 1 is the normal monitor, and the other one is for wide-area observation and recording. After the VF-1D has returned to base, the recording is analyzed, and is also used in after-training briefing.
The shape when in Fighter is hardly different, with the exception of the length. The single-seat model's escape/survival unit space has been decreased to make room for the rear seat.
The VF-1 is a new fighter for many pilots, and the VF-1D was hurriedly completed for the pilots to adapt to such forms as GERWALK and Battroid, that they, above everything else, don't have experience with. Although the nose block was able to be separated, survivability in outer space was sacrificed for the addition of the rear seat. Because of that, the VF-1D is mostly limited to operations within the atmosphere.
Consequently, the hastily made D model wasn't able to become the main aircraft of the Training Air Squadrons, and that seat was handed over to the VT-1 Super Ostrich, a dedicated training/patrol plane that appeared later.
VF-1N
An updated type of A model due to phased modernization. The engines have been exchanged for the FF-2008 type. Also, it's a scheduled program that also replaces the avionics to an enhanced type that conforms to the VF-4. From last year, 2019, the surviving Block 9-10 airframes were sequentially improved to the N model.
Even though the externals of the N model conform to the A model, because some differences can be seen in the head design when in Battroid, it is possible to instantly distinguish it. Also, the blade antennas and panel shapes in each part of the airframe have also been exchanged for parts that improve performance.
Concerning the same Block 9-10's J and S models, a portion of the modernization improvement has been applied with such things as exchanging the engines. These airframes are respectively called the J+ (J Plus) and S+ (S Plus).

In accordance with the Mankind Sowing Project, all sorts of functional enhancements were performed for activity in deep space. It was developed to meet the departure of the Megaroad 01.

A remodelling of the SDF-2, which was in the middle of construction as an Emigrant Ship, in accordance with the "Mankind Seeding Project". Upon completion, it was the Megaroad 01.
*1 A VF squadron is composed of an average of about 16 to 20 aircraft.
*2 In addition to the VF-1 squadrons, such things as Lancer II squadrons, VE-1 Early Warning squadrons, and Ghost squadrons were also deployed to the ARMD-1 and 2, which were the initial ARMD class carriers.
*3 The ARMD-2 was half damaged at the time of the Macross's Space Launch. A part of its VF-1 squadrons were lost.
*4 The Zentraadi survivors after the First Interstellar War were said to be about 8 million. 50% of them were micronized by the end of 2010.
*5 In February 2012, the SDF-1 Macross, which had come down to the Earth, was used as that city's facilities, the base of the Earth's revival, and the New Unified Forces' temporary headquarters.
