01 The type where the missile loading ability is unchanged, but the propellant capacity is increased. Even though the initial acceleration is reduced due to the amount of weight increase, the overall movement period is extended (the final speed also increases according to the usage).

02 The type with a chemical laser equipped in the side. Even though it was hypothesized to be used both inside and outside of an atmosphere, it was ultimately a rejected plan. As the manoeuvrability of a fighter equipped with this pack becomes difficult, it seems that the pack would have to be purged after it simultaneously fires at the objective after descending into the atmosphere.

03 A vertical twin-barrel laser gun turret equipped type that closely resembles the popularly named VF-1 "Strike Pack". It is used for such things as penetrating enemy ships and attacks on enemy positions. It differs from the VF-1's beam gun turret, as the packs are connected to a position on the main wings, and they cannot change their axis to the front when in Battroid mode.

04 The type with an expanded laser gun turret in the micro-missile pod. Even though the laser can also be charged by the engines, it is not suited for rapid-firing, as the laser turret's energy capacitor is built into the side.

Pg. 083

VF-25A: Standard Model
The VF-25A is the most basic specification of the VF-25 and was set up for units whose main missions are fleet defence. The head is equipped with a single type ROV-127C Laser Gun Turret.
20 aircraft in the early mass-production Block 3 were the VF-25A (within that, 5 aircraft were spares). They were delivered to the Macross Frontier Fleet's S.M.S. together with a number of the other trial type forms of the VF-25, formed into 1 flight squadron and an examination operation was carried out with them. Because some of the aircraft that were supplied to S.M.S. were on the front lines of the battles with the Vajra at this time, the VF-25A were operated as completely single-seater aircraft, as the measuring equipment, analysis devices and so on were stored in the rear seat's space in the cockpit. Also, these initial mass production aircraft are said to have had their main wings produced with existing materials that were used in the VF-171 and so on, as the HLC-1221 hyper-carbon and carbon that the Macross Olympia Fleet was in charge of wasn't supplied on time.

Pg. 084

VF-25B/D: Two-Seater Models
Although the VF-25B/D were proposed as two-seater models for model conversion training, the plan itself was rejected because an external control back-up system was developed that used the VF-25's remote control function. At first, an examination operation was scheduled with S.M.S. using the B model and the New Unified Forces using the D model. Concerning the basic airframe specification, the B model is configured to the A model, and the D model corresponds to the C model.

VF-25C: Standard Model
The VF-25C specification corresponds to the A model, and was set up for delivery to the Unified Forces. They were initially shipped as Block 4 production aircraft. At present, it is the base of every derivative aircraft, such as the export model. The point that's the greatest difference with the A model is the installation of the Link 12 system used for data links. Otherwise, they are almost equal in their specifications. The only way to externally distinguish the C model from the A model is with the 2 data link antennae on the head.

VF-25E: Heavy Equipment Model
The VF-25E is the aircraft that's set up premised on it being operated with the Armour Pack as its standard load. As it can be expected to achieve fleet defence and the preservation of the front lines, even when deployed in small numbers, the VF-25E is likely to be selected as the model that is delivered first when the fleet's carrier air wing plans to gradually introduce the VF-25. As the Armour Pack is assumed to basically not be operated within an atmosphere, there are no examples of it being used by Emigrant Planets. The head is patterned on the F model, and an additional ROV-127C laser turret is added to the top of the head. Also, the VF-25E uses a high-performance data link system, which has a performance equal to the S model, and is is able to perform attack controls to a wide-range of targets (one theory states that with the cooperation of several E models and R models, it's possible to simultaneously control attacks on more than 300 individual targets).
The E model's basic stats are unchanged from a VF-25A/C/S that's merely equipped with an Armour Pack, as it is a setting that can only be used by increasing the upper limit of the FF-3001A Stage II Thermonuclear Engine's output limiter.

Pg. 085

VF-25F: Derived Model
The head is equipped with 2 ROV-127C Laser Gun Turrets. Although at the start of development the A model also had an experimental head that had 2 Laser Gun Turrets, in the end, the dual turrets were saved for the F model, which is for units that hope for an active strengthened offensive capability model. Currently, the F model is produced with S.M.S. as the main delivery destination.
The head ranging system is a triple sensor, laid-out in a horizontal form, and it enables the precise measurement of the target. For that reason, when the F model used the SSL-9A/B, which is considered to be equipment for the G model, precision firing was possible to a certain extent. In addition to the improvement in the destructive power that's directed toward the target, the 2 laser turrets can support advanced interception with such things as 1 gun directly aiming toward a target that's moving at high speed, and the other gun firing at the future estimated position. Also, it has a rear alert system that's an independent system. Although the F model is dominant in the specifications when the head unit is compared with the A model and so on, there are few examples of the F model being used by the Unified Forces, as the F model isn't always necessary; because when one takes stock of the aircraft that's facing the target, it has abandoned itself to the pilot's skill. Even though they were able to assess parts of the reports that summed up techniques for the aircraft's control system immediately following its deployment, the specifications are identical to the A and C models. In addition, the F model (Block 3) that was operated by the Frontier Fleet's S.M.S. was produced with the feedback from the operational data of the A model, which had started the advance production and operation of the VF-25. Due to that feedback, for the first time, the main wings, avionics and all the units in the various parts became genuine VF-25 parts in accordance with the design specification. It's possible to say that this aircraft was the initial production aircraft that was the closest to the mass production aircraft on and after Block 4.

Pg. 086

VF-25G: Sniper Model
The VF-25G is a style that is classified as a sniper type, which is a comparatively new VF tactical category. From the standpoint of the aircraft's composition, in addition to the Dragunov SSL-9A/B Anti-Material Sniper rifle as standard equipment, a one-eye style high-precision optical sensor, a dedicated GEASS in the head, and an additional FCF-21b precision shooting booster in the nose avionics, the aircraft features the point that an anchor is built into the airframe in order to maintain its shooting posture. In addition, a dedicated control system, referred to as a Gunner Kit, has been added to the EX-Gear so that the pilot may operate those precision shooting additions to the aircraft. The other points of the VF-25G are common with the A and C models.
This advanced precision shooting ability places the VF-25G as a supporting aircraft of the team, and it supports the actions of the vanguard aircraft by data linking with control craft, such as the RVF-25. The SSL-9A/B fires a super-high speed armour piercing ammunition with a linear driver. Its initial velocity is 7,490 m/s, which is an approximate 20% improvement compared with the usual situation. This has a power that penetrates the 300 mm thick GFS-2a Composite Armour of Destroids (the official value that's measured outside of the atmosphere).

Caption: SSL-9A/B

VF-25S: Derivative Model
The head of the S model is equipped with 4 laser gun turrets. It is traditionally used as the commander's aircraft. Presently, it can smoothly grasp the situation of the battle airspace and give directions, as it is equipped with a link system with control craft such as the RVF-25, and a tactical command information processing and display system. The other specifications correspond to the A and C models. The differences of the specification easily pass the budget, even if one only introduces the specification with the head. Also, while such personnel as the formation leader and the squadron leader rotate their aircraft into such things as maintenance and repair, it became easy to introduce the S model even in other squadrons, because its possible to exchange the S model head with that on a spare aircraft, and sortie it as an S model. Compared to existing VFs, the individual number of S models has increased.

VF-25VJ Vajra-Aggressor: Instruction Craft
In the early days of the battles with the Vajra, their extremely high manoeuvrability became a problem. Together with a manoeuvrability that far exceeds that of the VF-171 main fighter, the exterior of the mean-looking Vajra creatures planted fear into pilots. However, the mannerisms of the Vajra's characteristic mobility was understood due to analyses by the Macross Frontier Escort Fleet Weapons Development Test Centre, and they could predict the Vajra's flight path to some degree. Thereupon, some VF-25 were produced with their flight control system rewritten to resemble the Vajra's flight characteristics, as the VF-25 has manoeuvrability that's equal to the Vajra.
From the conclusion that a VF-171 with DACT was virtually effective, 4 aircraft were hurriedly extracted from the initial mass production of the VF-25 and made up as dedicated instruction aircraft for the Anti-Vajra War. They were conferred with the new VJ subtype name, and a colouring that imitated the Vajra was also applied to their exteriors. Even though a large beam gun that imitates the Vajra was also installed in the head turret, it is a dummy containing an as-is Mauler ROV-127C. This "Vajra Aggressor" was deployed to the Unified Forces' 6th Combat Training Flight Squadron and this same squadron became the dedicated Anti-Vajra aggressor unit. However, as the Vajra soon changed their characteristic mobility and began to have countermeasures, this training program was soon abandoned because there was fear about the concerns that there would be a magnification of damage due to contrary pilot preconceptions. After that, the 4 VF-25 were restored to normal.

RVF-25 Mainstay: Electronic Warfare Model (mainstay)
The RVF-25 is an aircraft that's used for such things as electronic warfare and overall battle command control. On the premise that the RVF-25 would operate the Hughes AP-SF-01 Aegis Pack, the head has become a head block that's equipped with high precision sensor antennae instead of the ROV-127C Laser Turret. The Aegis Pack is basically treated as a DSAF-03 Disk Perimeter Warning Radio Wave/Fold Wave Sensor on the surface of the airframe, and an ESF-1000 Fold Wave Phased Array Radar Panel on the underside of the airframe; in addition to the VGA-14A Integrated Sensor that uses high purity Fold Carbon in the nose radome, and an additional electronic warfare booster unit (AE-35 Kai) that's in the avionics bay forward of the cockpit. There is a record that the advance mass-production RVF-25 that the former Macross Frontier Fleet committed to combat were operated equipped with the Aegis Pack Kai (AP-SF-01+), which was this Aegis Pack remodelled for Anti-Vajra use with Fold Quartz built into it by the L.A.I. Co..
In addition to a maximum 1 light-day passive detection range by Fold Wave, the RVF-25 boasts of excellent detection abilities with normal radio wave and laser detection methods. 2,048 objects can be can be identified at the same time. Long and medium range missiles can be guided toward 128 of those objects, and it's possible to have a high degree of tactical deployment by information link with the lead aircraft. Also, the RVF-25 of the aforementioned Frontier Fleet were said to operate a maximum of 6 Ghost QF-4000 with an original attack guidance control system. Fold Wave Communication was said to have been used to control them, and they are considered to have achieve that control with zero time lag. Even though there is information that the same kind of independent dogfighting program as the one that was in the Ghost X-9 was loaded into the Frontier Fleet's QF-4000, the truth is unknown.

VRF-25F Recon-Messiah: Reconnaissance Model (Recon-Messiah)
A powerful single-seater reconnaissance model. It confirms such things as the scale of the opponent's attack by approaching such places as the hostile power's position. It is normally mobilized in a unit with 2 normal aircraft. The Energy Conversion Armour is set to a strength twice that of a normal VF-25, because the VRF-25F is required to be exposed to the opponent's attacks. The dorsal spine is equipped with a special additional capacitor that supplies electric power to the Energy Conversion Armour. Basically, the VRF-25F is equipped with FAST Pack (SPS-25S/MF25) equipment. However, the armour units have been exchanged for reconnaissance pallets that gather all sorts of intelligence.

VC-25V VIP Messiah: The Important Persons Escort Model
A special operations aircraft for escorting important persons and rescue, which was developed as a successor to the VF-19C. The transformation mechanism and fixed armaments were removed, and it can accommodate 10 people within the space that was in the arms under the dorsal spine. The VC-25V is equipped with a large, high-power ISC, because it was assumed that important persons or ordinary civilians would board the aircraft. For that reason, the shield has been exchanged for a large power generation unit.

VEF-25E Warning-Messiah: Early-warning model (Warning Messiah)
The VEF-25E is a two-seater early-warning model, and it was developed as a variant to the VF-25 that was equipped with the Aegis Pack/AP-SF-01+. A Fold Quartz using ASE-50 Dedicated Electronic Warfare System Booster Unit is built-into the nose avionics. A characteristic large disk radome (not rotating) is installed on the back of the aircraft. Various sensors and Fold Wave detecting phased array sensors are included within the radome. Also, all of the surroundings can be detected in real time to a distance of about 1.5 light days with the Fold Wave detecting phased array sensors that the nose radome and arms are equipped with. In addition, missiles that the other VF-25 and VF-19 are equipped with can be launched and guided toward 512 targets via a link system. Those 512 targets being from within the targets that were detected by the VEF-25E with normal search operations.

VF-25WR Wyvern-2: Special Duties Reconnaissance model (Wyvern 2)
It is easy for the Vajra to detect a VF, because faint Fold Waves are generated from the thermonuclear reaction turbine engines. The Wyvern is a reciprocating engine equipped reconnaissance pack for the VF-25, that was developed to observe regions of Vajra habitat on planets without being detected by the Vajra. In addition to the nose block becoming a three-seater type, in order to carry the investigation operator, the VF-25WR takes an appearance like that of a twin-winged aircraft, due to the huge supplementary wing and the VF-25's main wings. The nose radar was exchanged for a newly developed wide detection-angle subterranean probing system. As the probing system couldn't produce accurate results at a VF's high speed limit, the entire pack was designed as a unit that's able to do low-speed flight for the above mentioned regions. Reciprocating engine units with contra-rotating propellers are suspended under the additional wing and main wings of the VF-25WR itself when flying at low speed (the FF-3001A engines are operated in a stopped condition). It's possible to transform the VF-25WR as is, and the additional pack can be purged in an emergency. Even though it was in the middle of development in the Macross Frontier Fleet in preparation for the arrival at the Vajra mother-world, the project was cancelled because a war with the Vajra broke out before it was put into operation.

Caption: When cruising in the atmosphere.

VF-25WR Wyvern: Biplane Reconnaissance Model (Wyvern)
A concept illustration of the triplane shaped advanced development model Wyvern. It is a VF-25 equipped with an additional biplane reconnaissance pack. Problems were observed, such as being based on the pilot having to dispose of the additional pack at the time of retrieval, and development shifted to the second type, which was advancing concurrently. In the end, the project itself was cancelled.
