Locations: LV-426 Transit Map |
Rail lines are being rapidly constructed in the areas surrounding the Terraforming Tower as they are immediately needed to shuttle materials and personnel around the rapidly expanding base and colony. The majority of the system is either on raised, hard-packed earth, or on an elevated trackway that allows people and non-rail vehicles to freely move underneath the network.
At present, users of the system do not need to pay. However, once emigrants arrive in large enough numbers, ticket wickets and automated ticket purchasing machines will be installed. Payment is based on distance travelled, and not by fare-zones.
Train Classes
There are basically only two types of train class:
- Local: stops at every station along the line. Usually there is one every 10 minutes.
- Express: stops at only the major stations along the line. Usually there is one every 15 minutes.
Note: the busier lines (Lines 1 and 4) have twice the number of passengers, and the wait time between trains is half those indicated above.
Commuter Rail Lines & Stations
Line 1
- Pit - the site of the Sector 7 Space Pirates concealed ship. Currently an excavation site and rapidly growing UN Intelligence facility.
- Causeway - transfer station to Line 3 under construction.
- North Delta - site of rapid expansion with a sea-side community
- South Delta - site of rapid expansion with a sea-side community
- Bayside - the perfect blend of plateau, low-hills and desert sun. Transfer station for those heading to the spaceport or to the tower. Seen as a 'Riviera' of the colony. Rapidly expanding community of restuarants, tea houses and love hotels.
- Koya Central - main access to, and center of the Koya Unified Marine Forces Base.
- Koya East - main access for base personnel heading to and from the Terraforming Tower Valley.
- Gap - narrow part of the canyon complex between the Terraforming Tower Valley and Bayside. Mainly a tourist destination.
- Hirakata - bedroom community stop
- Canyon - prime stop for geologists wishing to further study the planet. The narrowness of the canyons in this section also allows for good sightseeing somewhat on par with the Grand Canyon on Earth.
- Sleepy River - initially a dry river bed. Now, some of the best rapids on LV-426.
- Valley Entrance - short but wide waterfall where the river in the Terraforming Tower Valley begins its journey in the canyon to Bayside. Popular tourist stop.
- Ike - next to the only pond on the entire planet! Ike area map.
Ike (ee-kay) is Japanese for pond. The #1 choice for Unified Government personnel after work. Come see the ducks! Also has direct access to the Terraforming Tower.
After the planet's deserts were changed into water, Ike's popularity was diminished, but it remains the largest (and oldest!) park nearest the Terraforming Tower.
- Tower - the main station in the entire transportation network. Direct access to the Terraforming Tower.
- New Tower - direct access to the Terraforming Tower.
- Terminal - the last station on the red line. Connects to Line 2 and the military airbase in the Terraforming Tower Valley.
Line 2
- Mine - the initial and main ore mine for the entire colony.
- Bluff - transfer to Line 3. Access to a fantastic bluff to the North, and the valley farmland in the other directions.
- Tower - see Line 1.
- New Tower - see Line 1.
- Terminal - see Line 1.
- Notre Damme - transfer to line 6. The canyon has a cathedral like arch and slight overhang. Transfer to Line 6 under construction.
- [stations under construction]
- Fish - site of a Unified Government biological research facility studying the remains of a giant petrified water going mammal from the planet's past; before the planet was turned into a giant desert.
Line 3
- [stations under construction]
- Causeway - see Line 1.

- Unnamed Station 1 - under construction. Transfer to Line 5.

- Paddy - prime farm land on the colony.
- East Gap - mirror to Gap on Line 1, but not as deep a canyon, with a less-powerful river.
- Hell's Gate - a spectacular, but brief, narrow gap in the canyons to the Northeast of the Terraforming Tower.
- Roche - a small mine for rare metals. Transfer to Line 6 under construction.
- Old River - formerly a dry riverbed. Currently a raging torrent! Transfer to Line 6 under construction.
- Frozen Forest - tourist spot famous for its remains of a petrified forest.
- West Paris - entrance to the Paris bedroom community valley. Transfer to Line 5.
- East Paris - a bedroom community for the Terraforming Tower Valley. It's in a small valley that has been planted with rapidly growing trees. Considered to be the coolest spot on the entire planet - in both senses of the word. Site of the initial civilian colonization. Transfer to Line 6.
- [stations under construction]
- Glacier - access to the CO2/NO mines in a spectacular glacier.
Line 4
- Bayside - see line 1.
- Koya West - rapidly developing into a seaside bedroom community for Koya Base personnel.
- LZ - local station. Site of the Death Angels first Landing Zone (LZ) on the planet. Grew into a Unified Forces Marine Base before it was transferred to the Koya area. Facilities have been taken over by field scientists studying the strange energy that eminates from the Protoculture Science Vessel buried underneath the Terraforming Tower Valley.
- North Beach - popular beach destination for tourists and locals.
- South Beach - popular seaside destination for tourists and locals.
- Plateau Entrance - transfer station between Lines 4 and 5. Line 5 takes advantage of the relatively low height of the plateau in this area, and uses it to join the sections of the transport system that are at the bottom and top of the plateau with a direct transfer station.
- Cargo 2 - access to the East side of the cargo terminal.
- Cargo 1 - access to the West side of the cargo terminal.
- Spaceport - main military and civilian access and egress point to the colony. It and it's two substations (Cargo 1 and Cargo 2) have experienced a vast amount of growth in a short period of time.
