Locations: Macross & Real

About the following:

  1. Organization: in general, locations are organized from the core of the Unified Government outwards, followed by the (known) fleets.
    • Individual locations follow the same pattern: from the star—or main object—outwards.
  2. Named and unnamed objects: each star is presumed to be like our sun: many3 smaller objects orbit it. I've only listed (named and described) the noteworthy objects in this guide.
    • Refer to the Sol System for the general idea of the number and variety of objects in a star system.

Local Bubble / Sector 1 (The core of the Unified Government)
    Located 0–100 ly from Earth

The most understood, explored, colonized, and best defended sector of the Unified Government. It is considered the 'home turf' of humanity, and any unauthorized defolds into the sector are generally met with force.

The sector is ball-shaped, with a radius of 100 light years based on Sol/Earth. It was colonized entirely by Short-Range Emigration Fleets.

Local Bubble / Sectors 2–25 (The main territories of the Unified Government)
Located 101–200 ly from Earth (extending in a soccerball-like distribution from Sector 1.

The better understood, explored, colonized and defended sectors of the Unified Government. They are considered to be the 'home turf' of humanity, and any unauthorized defolds into the sectors are generally met with force.

The sectors are organized in a soccer-ball shape, with lengths of 100 light years extending outwards from Sector 1.

Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Sectors
Located starting from 200 ly from Earth, extending from the soccerball-like distribution of Sectors 2–25.

Formed from the navigation routes of the Super Long Range Emigration Fleets as they departed from the Unified Government territories. Due to the manner in which the Emigrant Fleets progressed (sending advance parties to explore and find navigable routes), these sectors ended up being prefered by subsequent travellers and colonizers—who look for easier-to-travel, predetermined routes, and target planets that have already been discovered. These sectors are generally better explored, colonized, and developed than the surrounding areas.

The sectors' "cores" are generally considered to be the geographical center of the route that the Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet took while navigating through the area. That route is generally considered to be the "safest passage" (as it has been successfully navigated by an Emigrant Fleet), and most likely to be free of Fold Faults and other obstructions. The route also provides the link back toward Earth and the Unified Government territories, or forward toward the Emigrant Fleet and any Emigrant Planets the fleet may have colonized.

Dimensions: 100 ly long cylinders, with a radius of 25 ly from the sector's core (the Emigrant Fleet's course).

    Sector Description Glossary
  • {sector name} +: up in the galactic plane above the indicated sector (or towards the center, when the fleet travelled vertically).
  • {sector name} -: down in the galactic plane below the indicated sector (or away from the center, when the fleet travelled vertically).
  • {sector name} Starboard: the right side of the outbound fleet ("up" on the Unified Government Territories Map).
  • {sector name} Port: the left side of the outbound fleet ("down" on the Unified Government Territories Map).

    Beyond the Unified Government's Borders

    The Zentrādi Control Zone

The Zentrādi in the nearby Control Zone are a mix of culture-influenced ("humanized") Zentrādi, and "rogue" fleets ("pure", or "uncontaminated" Zentrādi). Some of the humanized Zentrādi were unsatisfied with human society, and are seeking to create their own. During that development of the Zentrādi Control Zone, feuds between the different groups broke out, and the zone is fractured into different camps experiencing a kind of civil war.

Each camp is a different type of society that battles with the others. This has opened a pandora's box of various Zentrādii factions with various motives and allies, that harass each other and the nearby Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Sector inhabitants.

    Outside the Borders

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy, consisting of a central crossbar from which two major and several minor spiral arms radiate outwards.

These areas are usually significantly less explored, colonized, and developed than the Super Long Range Emigration Fleets. There are exceptions, but generally those are limited to small pockets seperated by vast distances.
