Official Setting information is in green. Extended Universe information is in blue.
  1. Organization: in general, locations are organized from the core of the Unified Government outwards, followed by the (known) fleets.
  2. • Individual locations follow the same pattern: from the star—or main object—outwards.
  3. Named and unnamed objects: each star is presumed to be like our sun, with many3 smaller objects orbiting it. Only the noteworthy objects are listed (named and described) in this guide.
  4. • Refer to the Sol System for a general idea of the number and variety of objects in a star system.

Introduction and Maps

The following is a guide to real locations, and the locations in the various Macross productions, and some of the RPG games set in the Macross universe.

Sector 1 (Local Bubble)
The core of the Unified Government.
  • located 0–100 ly from Earth.
  • the sector is ball-shaped, with a radius of 100 light years based on Sol/Earth.
    • the most understood, explored, colonized, and best defended sector of the Unified Government.
    • considered to be the 'home turf' of humanity, and any unauthorized defolds into the sector are generally met with force.
    • colonized entirely by Short Range Emigrant Fleets.

    Sectors 2–25 (Local Bubble)
The main territories of the Unified Government.
  • located 101–200 ly from Earth, in a soccerball-like distribution around Sector 1.
  • the sectors are pentagonal and hexagonal frustums with their apexes on Sector 1, and extend outwards 100 ly.
    • the better understood, explored, colonized and defended sectors of the Unified Government.
    • they are considered to be the 'home turf' of humanity, and any unauthorized defolds into the sectors are generally met with force.
    • generally the narrower apex facing Sector 1 is the better colonized and defended part of each sector. The wider bases are generally less well colonized and defended.

Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Sectors
  • located starting from 200 ly from Earth, extending from the soccerball-like distribution of Sectors 2–25.
  • each sector is a 100 ly long cylinder, with a 25 ly radius from the sector's core.

  • Formed from the navigation routes of the fleets as they departed from the Unified Government territories. As the fleets progress by sending parties in advance to explore and find navigable routes, these sectors have become the prefered routes of subsequent travellers and colonizers—as they are able to use proven routes, and target planets that have already been discovered. The sectors' cores are the geographical center of the route that the fleet took while navigating through the area. That route is generally considered to be the "safest passage"—as it has been successfully navigated by a fleet—and most likely to be free of Fold Faults and other obstructions. However, the route may not be the most direct or fastest one to travel from one place to another. One other advantage of the Emigrant Fleet Sectors is that they provide a direct link back toward Earth and the Unified Government territories, or forward toward the Emigrant Fleet and any Emigrant Planets and colonies that have been established along the way. Due to that, the Enigrant Fleet sectors are generally better explored, colonized, and developed than other areas.

The Zentrādi in the control zone are a mix of culture-influenced (humanized) Zentrādi, and "rogue" (pure, or uncontaminated) Zentrādi fleets. The control zone formed when some of the Zentrādi who were unsatisfied with human society at Earth, left to create their own society. They established their initial colonies in an area of space that the surviving parts of the Bodoru Fleet had fled to at the end of the First Interstellar War, and had generally been avoided by humans. During the development of the Zentrādi Control Zone, feuds between the different groups broke out, and the zone fractured into different camps that are experiencing a kind of civil war. Each camp is a different type of society that feverishly protects its borders and battles with its neighbours—irregardless of whether they are fellow Zentrādi or humans (and others) from outside of the control zone. This has opened a pandora's box of various Zentrādi factions with various motives and allies, that harass each other and the nearby Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Sector inhabitants.

    Outside the Borders
The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy, consisting of a central crossbar from which two major and several minor spiral arms radiate outwards. These areas are usually significantly less explored, colonized, and developed than the Super Long Range Emigration Fleet Sectors. There are exceptions, but generally those are limited to small pockets seperated by vast distances.

    Brisingr Globular Cluster
The Brisingr Globular Cluster is in the frontier of the galaxy, therefore there's a lot of diversity left in it. "It's on the edge of the galaxy, and we hypothesized that it was the last place that the Protoculture struggled on to. The influence of the New Unified Government is extremely low in it. And so, as it hasn't suffered from the attacks of the Zentrādi and so on up until recently, many [Protoculture] ruins and so forth have been left in it. The globular cluster also features many dimensional faults—Windermere in particular is surrounded by them, and was quite difficult to find. The fleet that took the time to fly through the dimensional faults in the past found Windermere by chance, and started the relationship between Windermerians and Earth humans. There are no means to go directly to Windermere, and its development has been delayed." (Kawamori)
    Windermere
  • Windermerens "feel the wind".
  • the planet is surrounded by dimensional faults, making direct fold travel to it impossible.
  • Derwent is the capital of Windermere.
  • Karlisle is the area that was bombed by a Dimension Eater. Its mayor was Mira Con-Vaart.
  • Ravengrass is the village where Freyja is from.
  • Ragna
  • Ragnakians have gills.
  • was discovered by the (New Macross Fleet) Macross 1 in 2037.
  • located 800 ly from Windermere.

  • Airberl
  • Rig Stania ruins
  • Planet Alfhiem
  • wiped out by a massive Var outbreak in 2065.

  • Planet Divide
  • has a lot of civil wars.
  • Planet Voldor
  • 62% marshland.
  • exports lumber, fruit, and spring water.
  • the Paraganal Ruins were built by the Protoculture.
  • Voldorians are a feline-based race. They have cat ears, tails, and claws. Females only have two breasts, so they likely do not birth in litters.
