Poaching Group Mothership "Hunting Ground ship"

PoachingGroupMothership1 (67K)

BACKGROUND

The Privateer Class of vessels are simple yet effective cargo freighters. The central section of the ship consists of a large cargo bay with 8 huge bay doors to allow even the largest of cargo's into its interior. The central section consists almost entirely of the cargo section, with the the rear central engine being the only engine directly attached to the ships central section and part of its super-structure, the other engines are separate sections fitted to the sides of the ship. The command section of the ship is attached to the end of a long neck connecting it to the central section. The original designers planned the vessel this way as it may commonly carry hazardous materials and separating the command section for the cargo section would in the event of some form of explosion provide the crew with a better chance for surivival.

The ship comes as standard unarmed, however many pirates and poachers (specifically those poaching Galactic whales) have taken to modifying their Privateer class vessels. The ships themselves are so large and have a lot of surface area to latch weapons and equipment on to which is why they are a favoured ship for those on the wrong side of the law. The large cargo bays can also be modified for other uses as well, one example being the Anti-UN who it is rumoured have modified Privateer Freighters to become Mecha and VF carriers, troop transports and Hospital ships. The ships can not carry Variable Fighters as standard but couplings for battloid mode VF's to be lashed to the ship can be added to the neck section of the ship. However only 3-4 per side would be able to be fitted.

NOTE: The ship detailed below is a standard Privateer Class Cargo Freighter, however with weapons attached. The details give are thus those for the modified Privateer Class Freighter used by the Poachers who have regularly attacked the galactic whales on their yearly return to the planet Zola.

NOTES:
  1. Depleting the MDC of the main body will put the Ship out of commission. All internal systems will shut down, including life support and internal gravity. The ship itself will be an unsalvageable floating wreck.
  2. Destroying the command section will instantly kill the command staff and deprive the ship of all forms of long range communications, radar and targeting. The range and targeting capabilities of the secondary systems are equal to that of a VF-11 Thunderbolt. The ship can still operate, but is at -3 on initiative, -3 to strike, and number of attacks per melee of the weapon systems are reduced by half. Destroying the main sensory array behind the command tower will have the same effect, but the command staff will not be killed instantly.
  3. Depleting the MDC of the main engines will force the ship to rely on its secondary engines. Depleting the MDC of the main engines AND secondary engines will leave the ship adrift in space. If in an atmosphere, the ship will crash (destruction of the main engines will render the antigravity system useless due to loss of power).

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

1. HEAVY HARPOON/MISSILE LAUNCHERS (2):

Mounted on either side of the central axis of the ship. Harpoon missiles are contained in external quarter. Hemisphere loading racks on the left and right hand leading edges of the main section of the ship. Any type of harpoon missile can be fired including reaction missiles.

PoachingGroupMothership3 (14K)

2. MEDIUM HARPOON/MISSILE LAUNCHERS (2):

In addition Heavy Harpoon launchers are two medium harpoon launchers located at the ends of the dorsal and central spokes. The harpoon/missiles, unlike the heavy launchers, are stored and loaded internally with the loaded harpoon/missile pivoting out of the safety of the ship to a forward facing launch position.

3. HEAVY LASER CANNONS (2):

For more rapid defence against any potential attackers, the ships feature laser cannons ventrally located on the central/cargo section of the ship, on either side.

4. MEDIUM ANTI-WARSHIP CANNONS (2):

Found on the dorsal and ventral edges of the central/cargo section of the ship, the medium anti-warship cannons provide a good angle of fire from their top and bottom firing positions, able to target anything directly in front of the ship.
