Generic Vehicles 2000's - 2010's (M0 & SDFM)

Roughly every decade, there have been advances in consumer vehicle technolgies. What was once gas guzzling, ground moving only vehicles in the 2010's have become virtual spacecraft by the end of the 2050's.

Standard equipment: headlights (150 m), stereo system, spare tire & tire changing equipment.

Optional Equipment:
- Survival Kit: a small reinforced box locked with a combination lock mechanism. It contains a first aid-kit, mess kit, canteen, thermal blanket, waterproof poncho, pocket knife, matches, compass (or universal direction finder), flashlight and 2 weeks worth of rations. It weighs approximately 4.5 kg fully loaded.

*In general, if the S.D.C. of the main body is depleted, the vehicle is destroyed. Vehicles with 6 wheels can function even if they lose one of the paired set of wheels on each side. 4 wheel vehicles that lose a wheel (or 6 wheel vehicles that lose 3 wheels) reduces speed by half and control rolls are at -15%.

Generic Vehicles - 2000's - 2010's

Before the ASS-1 fell there was an age where it seemed like each automobile manufacturer competed to develop new models of cars. Such companies as Shinakasu Heavy Industry and GN were the industry leaders, and well-known companies, such as Northrum, Royce and Shinsei Industry, which were also concerned with Variable Fighter production, possessed automobile sections and developed new models. Such cars as the mini-car and the passenger vehicle were widespread even among ordinary townspeople. These civilian vehicles played active roles as transportation even within the SDF-1, which had taken in all of the neighbourhoods of South Ataria Island.

During the period of disorder after the Macross's space launch, automobiles seem to have functioned as a necessity for life. Even after the First Interstellar War, when trains with linear motors spread, a variety of vehicles took an active part as the legs of the human race.

A lot of automobiles ran on the Earth. Although simple types that had shaved off the unwanted features were mainstream, sports car types were also seen.

Passenger Vehicles - The sports type of passenger vehicles have space for 2~5 adults. At the time, 6-wheel drive style passenger vehicles were mainstream, with streamlined bodies that had such things as detailed designs and doors that opened at acute angles. They are generally very large types that are reminiscent of the designs from the 1970's, due to the confusion of the Unification War and the heavy-duty performance needed in war torn regions.
Gull-wing type, 4-door type, 2-door type, sports car type.

Mini-Cars - Compact cars spread in the same way as the passenger vehicles. Even though it's expected that their output is held back compared to the passenger vehicles, they were suitable for such things as use in town due to their construction that was simple, yet effective in tight turns. Sedans, wagons, single-seaters and cargo types are confirmed.

Note: vehicles that are carried about Emigrant ships have been converted from gasoline to hydrogen engines. Their performance is equivalent, but such things as range and, most importantly, pollution have been reduced by approximately half.

Specific Civilian Vehicles - 2000's - 2010's

Civilian Heavy-Duty Truck

In the 6-wheeled large-sized auto, outside of the control seat and passenger seat that are in the front, the vehicle consists of load-carrying space. It's thought that the truck specializes in the transport of fish, because of the swordfish tuna that is drawn on the sides.

The large, GN-developed 6-wheel drive executive transportation limousine was also supplied to the Earth Unified Forces. They used it transport VIPs. In addition to having a solid body, it retained a high internal comfort.

The vehicle can lose up to 12 wheels before speed and handling becomes affected.

A large tractor-trailer was seen being operated by the Unified Forces. Excluding the driver's seat, it is all carrying space, and it could transport such things as crane trucks and Destroids. The tractor-trailer transported a destroyed Destroid fixed to it's flat load-carrying bed. The tractor-trailer was an indispensable vehicle for the transportation of the large weapons.

With 16 wheels on one side, the total 32 wheel's of supported the weight and movement of the tractor-trailer. Slow-speed driving is standard, and it cannot put out very speed. Besides being equipped with warning lights on the front and rear of the body, the tractor-trailer has a number of men deployed on the left and right of the driver's seat for the verification of safety.

The Tractor-Trailer has a titling flat bed and can carry up to 100 t. It is operated by 1 driver and 3 technicians.

Standard Equipment: heavy-duty winch and tie-downs, environmentally sealed cabin, 4 full tool kits, long-range radio (160 km).

A panel van of the laundry service that the 3 micronized Zentraadi, Warera, Loly and Konda, worked at after the conclusion of the First Interstellar War. The load-carrying part was used as space to load the laundry. The rear door is a double outward opening door, and the laundry was loaded and carried out by 2~3 people.

A mobile unit that's owned by the TV station "MBS (Macross Broadcasting System)". MBS was opened and operates within the SDF-1 Macross. The vehicle that's used for such things as live broadcasts and event coverage is constructed so that filming equipment can be loaded aboard the rear. The "MBS" logo-mark is arranged on the right side of the 6-wheeled vehicle.

It has a manual transmission, with the driving instruments on the left hand side. The Red Imperial 99 has a wide interior and 3 people can ride in the rear seat. With a low vehicle height, the Red Imperial 99 features a front grill with an acute angle. In the center of the top of the body is a periscope.

Special vehicles were given to medical institutions and took on public medical services and so on. It can be said that these are the kind of military vehicles that stuck mostly to daily life.

Specific Military Vehicles - 2000's - 2010's

The front-line war potential of the Unified Forces was replaced by armaments based on the new technology and ideas by obtaining Over-technology. However, the new technology did not reform all of the operational systems of the Unified Forces. Especially, the cheap, highly reliable, existing military vehicles that supported the war potential at the rear in the logistics section and so on and didn't combat directly against the aliens continued to be operated. They are extremely varied, and indicate the hugeness of the organization called the UN Forces.

A lot of the military vehicles, which the Unified Forces operated at the time of Space War I were aimed at logistics, maintaining security and so forth. The shifting of the main force of the ground armaments to Destroids, Battroids and so on is also related to the fading of the significance of the fighting potential of existing armoured fighting vehicles, like the tank.

The vehicle can lose up to 2 rear wheels on each side before speed and handling becomes affected.

Multiple containers can be loaded on the open-style load-bed heavy truck that's for use in and outside of an atmosphere, which can also run under low gravity. Because the Crawler DL-88 is very large, a ladder, step and so on for getting on and off have been installed.

The DL-88 Centipede has a tilting flat bed and can carry up to 200 t. It is operated by 1 driver and 2 technicians.

Standard Equipment: large headlights (400 m), loudspeaker (amplifies voice by 90 decibels), radio (160 km), 4 survival kits, tool kit, winch and air supply (7 days). The DL-88 Centipede also has an airlock, toilet and living area (kitchenette & table that can be converted to a sleeping area for 2).

A 6-wheeled buggy for use both in and outside of an atmosphere. The hull, which is divided into a front and rear, is mobile at the connection part, and is suited for running on irregular ground. The role of the infantry is important in the Unified Forces; which developed technologies and various military vehicles that support them.

The lightly armored infantry vehicle is suitable for reconnaissance. It can seat up to 5 passengers (3 comfortably) in addition to the driver.

Standard equipment: headlights (200 m), loudspeaker (amplifies voice by 90 decibels), radio (160 km), survival kit, tool kit, winch. Can carry 180 kg and pull a 4 ton trailer.

There were also many cases where military vehicles were sold off to civilians, and Roy Fokker cherished driving during his time off in the military high-speed jeep that he owned. Military jeeps are light, rugged all-purpose transport vehicles. They well designed and well suited to ruined roads and rough terrain. Although their top speed is limited, they can ride through rugged, rocky and rolling wilderness without sacrificing speed or mobility. It can seat 5 passengers (3 comfortably), in addition to the driver.

Standard equipment: headlights (200 m), radio (160 km), survival kit, tool kit, winch. Can carry 240 kg and pull a 4 ton trailer.

Special vehicles were given to the military police "MP" and took on public peace and so forth. It can be said that these are the kind of military vehicles that stuck mostly to daily life. They are standard motorcycle that have been modified to be tougher and faster. It is an ideal vehicle for scouting and transportation in remote areas. It can seat 1 passengers in an optional sidecar, in addition to the driver.

Standard equipment: headlights (175 m), loudspeaker (amplifies voice by 90 decibels), radio (100 km) and survival kit.

In the spacious interior of the Macross, there were many sections that didn't maintain a means for movement, so small vehicles were incessantly used for the movement of military personnel. The Sugarfoot is one such vehicle. It is a rugged, semi-amphibious vehicle that can be configured as a troop carrier, staff car, ambulance, reconnaissance vehicle and even a light anti-armour platform. It comes standard with a removable canvas top with plastic windows, These trucks are a common sight on military bases and aboard ships. They are reliabile and easy to maintain.

The multi-purpose vehicle can seat up to 4 passengers comfortably, in addition to the driver.

Standard equipment: floor drains, radio (160 km), soft-top, survival kit, tool, kit, winch. Can carry 225 kg and pull a 5 ton trailer.

Generic Vehicles - 2030's

Engine performance (speeds, fuel economy) have improved somewhat over the preceeding decade.

The main changes are the inclusion of manuevering thrusters that allow the vehicle to travel the Milky Road between Emigrant ships in an emigrant fleet and an increase in armour durability - to reduce the chance of depressurization when hit by micrometeorites. The emergency beacon has also been upgraded to an emergency radio that allows limited two-way communications.

The main changes are further increases in armour durability - to reduce the chance of depressurization when hit by micrometeorites - and the inclusion of an airlock and pressure suit in the trucks. (They can be included in the vans, jeeps, and small trucks, but they are individual modifications, and usually in the supplemental structure on the back bed of the vehicle).

Generic Vehicles - 2050's

Engine performance (speeds, fuel economy) have improved somewhat over the preceeding decade.

The main changes are further increases in armour durability - to reduce the chance of depressurization when hit by micrometeorites - and the inclusion of small spacecraft functions in the trucks - gravity control (able to reenter and exit an atmosphere from space - albiet comparitively very slowly), and interstellar navigation - usually for interplanetary travel, but some trucks have had fold boosters installed for intrasystem transport. (They can be included in the vans, jeeps, and small trucks, but they are individual modifications, and usually in the supplemental structure on the back bed of the vehicle).
